@Gary Martin my golden looks more like a show golden, but she has incredible drive and super intelligent! She achieved her WC after only training 2x! Super birdy! I joke that she came to me preprogrammed as she excels in anything she tries. She’s only 2 years old, but she earned so many CKC titles already! - 3 tricks titles (NTD, ITD, NTD-M), 2 Rally Obedience titles (RN, RI), Obedience title (PCD), Canine Good Neighbour (CGN), Field (WC), Dock Diving (DS), CKC Versatility (VN), and earned 8 points toward her conformation championship including Best in Group! She just needs 2 more points for her Ch. We’ve recently tried scent detection and she’s phenomenal in that. Agility? She’s excelling in that sport. I haven’t competed yet in agility as I’m keeping the jumps below what she should be doing until after her hips and elbows are X-rayed for OFAs.

@Gary Martin 🤣 yes I brush weekly when it’s not their semiannual shed, and 2x per day during the semiannual shed. Vacuum 2x per day as well during this period. Golden glitter everywhere! Thankfully, her undercoat is thin during the summer months when we work in field and hunt.

Hello! Thanks for adding me! I am on my 3rd & 4th golden retrievers. I lost #1 to cardiac and splenic hemangiosarcoma at 6.5 years of age and #2 to lymphoma at 8 yrs of age. The older golden girl I have is almost 5 years old. She is a covid dog so early socialization was next to impossible. She is anxious out in the real world. She fence fights with our neighbour’s dogs, and barks when anyone comes in the house. She used to play, but stopped after losing our dog #2. I want to build up her confidence and help her settle by providing better leadership. I want her to enjoy playing again. Our breeder bred her and she had 8 puppies. We kept the pick of the litter. This pup is 16 months old, is very confident, and not scared of anything! However, I did put in a lot of work to reach this point. I just want to ensure that she stays that way. Both dogs participate in conformation, formal obedience, rally obedience, agility, and field/hunt. I welcome any training hints!
