Crystal Bowl Mastery Pilot Week 2 prompts assignment
⢠Biggest Takeaway #1: This was a wonderful class with much rich information on the overall process that goes on in the practitionerās mind and everything from having a reliable and well practiced set up to having a set list of an actual prepared formula on which pitches to work around. I also learned a lot of practical advice from the experienced practitioners. ⢠Biggest Takeaway #2: This practice involves a lot of scientific information which we would benefit knowing as well as technical knowledge of some musical components to incorporate with also proficiency playing the instruments which we must learn to be very refined. Once we have all that in place we must be intuitively attuned to self at which point the facts are no longer absolute so we need to trust at every moment. Therefore we need a lots of practice and inquiry to build up our experience. ⢠Harmonic Grid (bowl setup) Feeling So Far: I am new to this and would like to build a solid foundation and build up my abilities slowly and systematically. Being late in the programme, I just started with one bowl and will stay with it for roughly a week and learn all I can about the sounds, the mannerisms I need to get these sounds whether slow or fast and the distance of the mallet to the bowl, different areas of the bowl, using right hand, then left hand, clockwise, counterclockwise etc. Once this is solidified I will move onto 2 bowls for the 2nd week, then the 3 bowl triads for the third week etc. After I get to 5-6 bowls, I will start to experiment with the bowl set-ups. However being a pianist I am used to having the lowest pitch on the left side and I have no problem seeing the triads, but I may have issues with the distance of the bowls form each other so I will try and see what works best. ⢠What itās like practicing with your Harmonic Grid and Set List: I have not yet gotten to that but I like the idea of having a tonal set list as a larger overview and I think it would be a game changer in making the entire session flow much better with a preconceived plan and a direction.
