My last gala before winter champs
Went pretty well and I'm happy with the results considering I was sick at this gala 100 back 1.16 took off 1 and a half second It felt pretty strong but the last 25 wasn't great, so I'm working on that 100IM 1.17 took 2 seconds off, focused especially on technique and had the best breaststroke I've ever felt at a gala 50 fly 34.3 took off a second too, focused on technique instead of speed on this one, and focusing on that actually helped my speed far more than the last time I swam the 50 fly 50 free 29.10 last event of the day and all my energy was drained and at this point I was functioning off panados, so I added 1.5 secs. I didnt have the best start, and I breathed way too many times than necessary. But it's ok, I'm not upset about it. And know I can learn from the whole gala and what to focus on.

You did a good job, even if you are not happy with 50 free. Congrats!🎉
Welsh Summer Nationals 2026
⚠️ Extremely Long Post⚠️ (not as long as the competition 🤦) Sorry not sorry Over the last 5 days, I've been racing at the Welsh Summer Nationals. I entered 7 races and was then selected for a relay, but ended up swimming 14 races due to finals qualifications. Day 1: 200 free Heats - I was a little nervous before this but mainly because it was the first race, it went ok and I swam a 2:19.33. This was 2 seconds off my best, but was a solid first swim and got me into the final. Final - I swam a 2:17.28, which was a pb by 0.02. Still a pb though! I raced it well, and went out harder than I usually would (1:06.5). This was better than almost even splitting which is my usual performance 🤦 50 breast Heats - I went straight from 200 free cool down to 50 breast marshalling so was living in the chaos. I wasn't nervous for this, and swam a 37.40, a pb by 0.03 from when I was absolutely on fire at 13. Final - Swam a 37.29, another 0.11 off of my time 😊 In both heats and finals, I counted my strokes and compared it to my 50 breast swims at winter nationals. I swam both races in a quicker time with less strokes, which is a positive (my stroke has become more efficient). Day 2: 200 breast Heats - I was really nervous before this, but didn't have a panic attack which is a big positive. I kept my stroke technique, and swam a seasons best (2:58.55). Final - I was nowhere near as nervous before the final. I swam it 6 milliseconds slower (2:58.61), but I raced it much better, splitting my first 100 2 seconds quicker than in the heat. I died on the last 50 though which is a shame, because I was on track for about a 2:55 😔 Still happy though! Day 3: 200 IM Heats - A bit nervous before this, but once again no panic attack. My backstroke split wasn't very good, but my fly was decent and my breast and free were good. Made up ground on the rest of my heat. Swam a 2:40.46. Final - Not as nervous, and swam a 2:38.95. My fly and back split was better, and my breast and free were the same. This still wasn't a pb, but I was content anyway.

@Alex Drdol isn't cleaning the house also kind of a workout?
The power of "one more"
Kudos to David for teaching this, it worked wonders for me in the gym and in the water! Focusing on being present and putting as much intent as possible into the current rep makes a lot of difference. And it also helps to take away the disappointment if you don't reach the number of reps planned for that given set, be it in the gym or in the water, because you know you did your best during the execution of the reps you managed. It helps to enjoy the process more, not only be focused on external cues. Because we get "infinitely" reps in during swimming (x amount of turns, strokes, underwater kicks, etc.), being present in the moment will pay dividends in the long run.

Thanks for your insight!
Nationals in Switzerland
Part 2 - Switzerland 200 Breaststroke - unfortunately this did not go anywhere close to what I had hoped, nor even as good as a week before in Ireland. Bad night sleep in hotel, very hot which probably had some affect on results but not happy about my performance. 100 Breaststroke - here too, not a great performance, added time but somehow managed to be reserve for the final. Unfortunately did not get the opportunity to swim again. 200 Fly - not at all happy with my performance here, gained almost 6 seconds to my last time. All I can say is exhaustion took over in the back hundred as the first half went ok, but perhaps went out a little too fast on the first half. Was really disappointed with my performance here. Also swam in relays, got DQ’d on 4x200 free, but managed a slight PB in the 4X100 medley in Breast, and on last day in 4X100 free relay also got a tiny PB on my 100 free by 0.57 seconds so while my individual races did not go well, I did perform quite well in my team events. Again general exhaustion coming into the end of season I think played a significant role, and also nerves caught me by surprise this year.
