Ironing Troubles
I own two long-sleeve and three short-sleeve casual shirts from DXL: True Nation. Now I enjoy these styles, colors, and brands. I would buy another True Nation shirt if it met my fancy. I’d recommend these types of shirts to anyone. My conundrum is how difficult they are to iron. The problem is that the fabric is made of a tougher linen-cotton blend. So, as much as one doesn't want a dry cleaning bill for a handful of shirts, am I missing any ironing tips? They are always washed in cold water and never put in the dryer. Perhaps my old Army NCOs were right, and I suck at ironing my BDUs and DCUs, lol?

I'm not familiar with the material, but one of the things I do when having issues is to iron from the side seam to the center slowly. I will pull gently on the material as needed to help.

The company I work for is merging with another company. We are very relaxed. Jeans, sneakers, and polo are typical office wear. The new company is more formal. From my understanding slacks, button ups and jackets are typical for management. With no jackets for front line. I'm a non-management salary employee. I am meeting with the a couple of senior leaders of the other company that I will be reporting to next week to discuss the software tools we use. We are also going to dinner the night before. I could use some advice on what to wear. I plan on wearing a gray jacket and shoes, with navy slacks and light blue shirt for the meeting. I was originally thinking more color but I may play it safe here. Im struggling on what to wear for dinner. My current director said slacks and a polo is fine. Inhave a feelinghe will be a step above that. I'd like to dress up the polo a little bit. Maybe a quarter zip? Im lost on what to do for colors. I'd like to do a splash of color. Something that says I'm an expert in what I do. I attached a picture of part of the jacket I currently own.

@Gunny Khan A jacket and button up for dinner? I do plan on a jacket for the meeting. The dinner is going to be more casual.

@Srini A Thank you for this. The colors I had in mind for dinner were a little bolder than this. I'll use what's in this instead.
Brian went shopping
In the two years I’ve been in this community I had only purchased one coat and two pair of trousers (plus some CT shirts and one tie). Most of what I’ve posted is quite old clothing. But as I am settling into a more desirable weight I broke down and followed my budgeted purchases which takes advantage of the seasonal sales. Since I need some tailored clothing that will actually fit I added some items to the closet. On a trip to Oklahoma City about a month ago I caught my friend Steve Giles of Stephen Giles Clothings clearance sale up to 60% off and got two pair of trousers and a very light weight fall jacket. My mother happened to be in OkC yesterday and picked them up for me and dropped them off about 10 O’clock last night and I thought that might work so as not to wake my wife as I slugged off to my early morning men’s group. Maybe a little late in the season for the coat but I had to try it out. https://stevengilesclothing.com •Sid Mashburn vicuña colored herringbone • Samuelsohn tan trouser • CT white French cuff shirt • silk pocket square • O ring belt • Pendleton socks in clay • Cole Haan Waxhides (1982) • antique shamrock cuff links • Ernest Borel automatic watch (1940’s)

Looks great. I will have to look up Steven Giles. I live in OKC and need to do some shopping.

@Brian McGuire Thanks Brian. I've never had tailored clothes. It's a whole new world to me.

Love the color combo. The purple in the tie is a nice touch.
Blue denim, black shoes
I hear a lot of talk about blue denim and black shoes (and belt) not being a good combination. Is that really true? I mean, if the denim is a dark wash one, the combination would look good. I have not tried it. Have you tried this?

@Scott Brown This is part of the reason I'm here. 95% of my daily wear is denim. Winter is pretty much 100%. I have a few pair of non denim shorts.
