One of my favorite shows as a child was batman tas, and who knows! Perhaps its embracement of suits and classical hollywood style influenced my dress sense, so now as as an adult it has been a joy to build up a collection

I love the classic fits...I mean, the slimmer tailoring today looks great on SOME people and hell, when I stand up, adjust and stand still it may even look good one me! However, when I walk the cuffs get caught up on the shoe and it never looks perfect! Personally? Give me the pleats, the cuffs...give me the full break with the cuff to the sole of the shoe! I also love finding deals...as I could never afford this hobby full retail. about 6 weeks ago I I found 4 suits at goodwill uncut, tags on em. Nothign fancy--department store brands but my bar for suits starts at "all wool" and these fit the bill. At $30 each, I was taking all 4 of em! In looking through the pockets, I found a quality control tag dated 1988...friggin thing's damn near 40 years old and I'm breakin' her in today! It's an Evan-Picone which evidently focused on ladies fashion, but did a little bit of mens too. After maybe $100 in tailoring I love it! The entire fit is thrifted/poshmarked/ebayed! The shirt is bev hill polo club, $3. Shoes are vintage florsheim imperial at maybe $50? I can't remember. $1 goodwill tie completes it. Details: Orient watch which, if you're not familiar with Orient watches, is easily the best deal goin. The thing punches far beyond it's weight class. fragrance is Tom Ford, Ombre Leather. Anson Belt. The Pocket silk was a gift and if you'd like to know more about where that came from, message me as I do not want to drop links here. My entire outfit might be $100...$225 after tailoring.

Why Everyone Notices a Man's Shoes - Yes "Almost" Everyone
Hopefully that makes everyone happier- I changed the title... 😂. "Shoes ARE A PROMINENT FACTOR IN FIRST IMPRESSIONS" Shoes are more than just footwear—they are social signals that communicate attention to detail, respect for oneself, and style. Our brains scan people from the ground up, making shoes the first element noticed in both professional and social settings. Men use shoes to gauge hierarchy, status, and intention. Women see shoes as a marker of care, maturity, and compatibility. Shoes amplify or cancel an outfit—polished footwear elevates the look, while worn or sloppy shoes undermine it. From my perspective, influenced by my father’s Florsheims, my collection of vintage and customizing shoes and years of refining style, shoes are a silent introduction. They carry legacy, command respect, and reflect the man I choose to be: intentional, disciplined, and stylish. Bottom line: Shoes are never just shoes—they are the first statement you make before you even speak.

I disagree that everyone starts with the shoe, and blanket statements in general, but I agree that they are important, should be cared for, and have a voice

@John C I see your reiterated point, and again, say blanket statements are almost always poor. On the subject of psychology and shoes, perhaps you have a study? You're doubling down and indirectly suggesting that you have a psychological understanding that I don't. I'm willing to admit I'm incorrect if I am.

Somehow I got on the Articles of style mail list. A few weeks back I did a post on a flair legged (bell bottom) suit that was another porkey pig fitting too short skirted too high operable button atrocity for $2,000 that they had done. (Each pic same model) I was happy to open up their e mail to see an appropriate length on the tweed: Operable button buttons at models waist- Skirt is at least as long as his crotch. They had the grey flannel pic in the email but cut off the bell bottoms this time. Note how the grey flannel is not only too short at the skirt and too high at the operable button. This fashion trend which a lot of guys have become complacent about has become so common I believe guys aren’t recognizing its biggest risk. Just like the baggy three button (not 3/2) cuts of the 90s aren’t worn anymore-once this “fashion”oddity flips back to a more normal proportion with suits fitting as they have for over 100 years it will equal a lot wardrobe $$$$$$$$$$$$. While I will concede that the grey flannel is a more fitted versus the traditional sack cut front chest panel- that doesn’t excuse its length. Whew.😅 Sanity remains. There is some hope

Agreed. Shirt triangle bad, suit cut so it looks like it's too small for you while calling it "tailored" also bad.
