High catch drills
Ive got a young goalkeeper who really struggles to get off the ground for high catches. Anyone got any drills or advice? Will this just sort itself out with time as they develop physically?

ANXIETY-SCARED OF MAKING A MISTAKE-NO CONFIDENCE?
If you’ve never played in goal, it’s almost impossible to describe the emotions a goalkeeper goes through…The nerves before kick-off.The fear of making a mistake. The crushing anxiety when you feel like the whole team – maybe even the crowd – is against you. AS GK COACHES WE MUST LEARN THIS SKILL - TO TEAH OUR STUDENTS!!! Every single goalkeeper, no matter their level, faces these emotions. Sometimes every week. Sometimes multiple times in a single game. I know this because I’ve been there myself as a professional goalkeeper. And over the past two decades, I’ve been privileged to help thousands of young keepers (and their parents) deal with these exact challenges. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to help goalkeepers develop something far more powerful than shot-stopping or handling drills: a bulletproof mindset. I’m super excited to share that I’m launching a brand-new Mindset Program for Goalkeepers — designed to give keepers (and parents who want to support them) the tools to build unstoppable confidence, resilience, and belief… just like a pro. 👉 Here’s a sneak peek at the new format. After about 3 minutes you’ll see the education slides (the videos will be around 80% powerful teaching slides and 20% me on camera). Each video also comes with a downloadable PDF so both keepers and parents can take the lessons away, apply them, and build the confidence that separates average keepers from great ones. This program is for those of you who already understand that mindset isn’t optional — it’s the foundation of every save, every game, and every career. Please watch the video below and share your thoughts — what you liked, what you didn’t, and what would make it even better. Your feedback helps me make this resource as powerful as possible for the entire J4K community. To stronger goalkeepers,Ray

U8 coaching
I am looking to go through the basics with my son, I watched grass roots goal keeper traing DVD (on YouTube) thought it was great, and then I put together first traing session; standing position, catching by scoop, catching higher, the k stance, diving left/ right from knee. Son enjoyed it, but was wondering if there were any intro to gk coaching showing very basics? Or any advice of drills would be greatly appreciated.

Keep it simple in the beginning. Let your son get used to catching the ball and get the feel of it. Make sure he is comftable diving, a lot of young goalkeepers feel the ground is hard, so make sure he lands on the big mouscles. In the club i'g coach we had a trainer who wanted the club to buy all sorts of gatgets for goalkeeping training. When i came to watch the training the keepers couldn't even catch a simple ball streight on.
