Drills?
How do you get the repetitions in so skills get into their muscle memory? Had crossovers and then today in the park I just couldn’t work out what my legs were meant to be doing? Should I start doing drills or do people recommend a better way Any help gratefully appreciated x

@Signorina Rollini I have a skate coach and he keeps telling me this. Hardest thing about learning is this dilemma because my body doesn't know yet what it needs to do so I have to think it through.
Roller Skate Buyers Guide📖
I'm creating a roller skate buyers guide and I'm curious what questions do you guys have around buying roller skates, equipment, parts, and accessories? It could be as simple as what is a good first pair of skates or as high-level as when do I know if it's the right time for me to upgrade to custom top-tier pair of roller skates. Lay it all out because I want this to be a comprehensive guide for beginners and advanced skaters alike.

Sizing was a big issue when I was attempting to upgrade. I wear a half size, so figuring which way to go was difficult. Also how the hardness/softness of the boot material determines break-in time/fit. I didn't have a skate shop near me so I tried rentals to try to figure out the size I'd need and it didn't work out very well. (For the life of me I don't understand how anyone learns on rentals. It was so discouraging at all 3 rinks I frequent.) In the end I bought half size up and supplemented with insoles(not gel!) and ankle booties- worked out great still over a year later with heavy use- over 10 hours a week. Someone mentioned laces. I've found the wider waxed ones keep the fit better through the whole session- and stay tied longer if you don't double knot.
40+
Anyone else wait until they were older to learn to skate? I've had so many people, including my kids, poke fun at me for starting now.

Skated (terribly) at the Roxy in NYC in the early 80's because I lived across the street. Started back up last year at 62. Now obsessed, 3-4 times a week at the rink. Learning to fall right was the first move I tackled. Working on transitions, manuals and backwards currently.

Started up in Aug'23 to dance in rinks. Finally confident on skates even in crowds. Yearning to spin/turn with ease.
