Thank Y'all for having fun with me here! ✨It's been awesome!✨
Hi everyone, I've decided to close this Skool community on June 30th That should give y’all time to finish any courses you’ve been working on in the “classroom” tab and make connections with the folks you want to keep in contact with. This group has been super fun, but I need to simplify my workflow. I have been pulled in too many directions between my day-job, side gigs, volunteer work and keeping up with publishing videos to YouTube, Tiktok, Rednote, Instagram and facebook (You can find me on all those platforms as @thatweirdplantlady) If you want to stay in touch and keep getting foraging tips, plant IDs, and updates on my next book, you can join my email list here: https://forms.gle/tPNGbbLHmeRtpCHH9 That's where I'll be sharing my best content going forward - no spam, just plant & fungi fun in a monthly or bimonthly newsletter. Thank you for being here. Hope to see you on the list. - Melanie 😁👍🌱✨

I feel you. I started my community with high hopes but I’m also feeling life has been life-ing so hard recently that I haven’t been able to keep it rolling as much as I’d like. Keep up the good work elsewhere, Melanie! 💚
May Flowers challenge
From a distance I thought they were roses in a bush, but the closer I got, the less they looked like roses. Rhododendron degronianum is native to the northern parts of Hosnshu, the largest island of Japan. Now my writer’s mind is trying to come up with a story in which the seeds set sail and accidentally find themselves in Dutch soil. 😜 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhododendron_degronianum

I actually found another Rhododendron nearby and they don’t look anything alike! Apparently there are between 800-1200+ wild species of Rhododendron! I’m baffled.

Hey Y'all 🤗 The Skullcap near me is blooming already; it's normally a midsummer bloom. I believe this is- 🌼Scutellaria incana, commonly known as Downy or Hoary Skullcap, it's a native North American perennial in the Mint Family.

Just the painkilling properties alone makes this an awesome plant. But compass properties??? Badass!

Red clover is a phytoestrogen so gotta watch out for that! When I entered perimenopause and my mood was all over the place, a nurse practitioner who called herself a specialist in women’s health, told me I had to put estrogen back into my body. At that time, I didn’t know better and followed her advice to take a red clover supplement. Within a month I developed extreme pelvic pain and was diagnosed with adenomyosis. Later I learned that early perimenopause marks the decline of progesterone so there is an imbalance where estrogen is predominant. The last thing I needed was more estrogen. The price I paid for her mistake is no joke. Almost ten years later I’m still overcoming the problem—feeling a sharp pain in my groin as I type. I learned this after I left the UK, or else I’d have sued her ass off.
