Muted pick?
My student(advanced), just brought in this circle rubber thing in to his lesson and I have honestly never seen it before in my 10 years of teaching. Is this just a muted pick? It actually works out nicely if you are wanting to stay quiet in the home. Any thoughts on this?

@Brandon Sykes before companies started making them, guys would take the red rubber stopper from the old Grolsch swing top beer bottles. I wouldn’t swing it around like Ritchie Blackmore, but it def helps, esp as the strap gets worn.
Question for the group-
What kind of guitar do you guys play? I saw a video of a guy busking with a guitalele (guitar + ukulele) and I thought it was neat so I bought one and I find myself reaching for it all the time.

I have so many, even kids 3/4 size in acoustic and electric.
Question for Brandon
In this day and age where everything seems like a backdoor scam (sorry as a former NYPD Det I may look at things through jaded lenses), I appreciate this and your videos, but what benefit are you getting from setting all of this up? Don’t mean to come across like a d*ck but, I’m sure there are others that thought this would be like “The section 8 real estate scams of the early 2000s.” Again, love this idea, and community setup and reaources, just wondering.

@Brandon Sykes thanks! That makes perfect sense. Let the community grow a little with us grassroots members. I found you on TikTok, I’ll start doing some reposts to try and boost those numbers. Appreciate the info on here.
Curriculum to Start Teaching...
Youll need a couple basic lessons to start teaching right away. Here is how I usually start out(see attached)...especially if they are new students who have never played the guitar before. Go through the slides and printout what you want. I try and keep it simple and give them something easy and something they can start right away for a quick WIN! Let me know what you think...

This has great stuff with where to start, especially early on with lesson 1 plus a few. Shows the nothing to something approach. This is what I was looking for, even as a talking point when looking to speak to parents, etc.

Retired NYPD Det who found a guitar and never looked back. Started repairing and rehabbing guitars and now looking to spread my love with teaching.
