Secret sauce to teaching guitar
I wanted to give a simplified answer to having a successful guitar teaching side hustle. 1) Where do you find students? - Run local ads. Spend $5-$30 a day. Use Facebook and Instagram. Make sure you have a personal facebook account. Set up a business page(found in free course). 2) Who to teach? - Many guitar teachers should start with teaching beginners. Save yourself the trouble and don't teach anyone under the age of 10 unless you just have the patience of a saint. 3) What about curriculum? - There really is no need to reinvent the wheel unless you just absolutely want to. I have free pdf's to get you started or you can purchase a beginner guitar curriculum from someone online. My favorite resources are Paul David's Learn, Practice, Play and Anythony Parker's Ultimate Guitar Method. There are pros and cons to both, but both of them have videos to show you all you need to know. 4) Where do I teach? - Ideally, your home or apartment is a great option. I've never had anyone scoff at the idea of learning in a makeshift office I've built inside my warehouse in the back part of my property. If you can't do this, teach at student's homes. Most parents/students like this more because you are meeting them where they are at. I hope this helps for anyone sitting on the fence about teaching. As always, I've got a scheduled meeting inside the Guitar Studio Blueprint community where I go on a live call and answers any questions, comments, and concerns you may have. I highly recommend showing up on Saturdays at 1pm central time.
