How’s everyone doing?
How’s the progression going everyone?? I thought I’d share an update for the year. I have my first 50 mile ultra on November 7th. (Goal is sub 10 hours). My two strategies I am contemplating are as follows. First, run a 3:30 marathon and then suffer to the finish. (Basically run, jog, walk, crawl, the last 24) Second, pace 9:00 - 9:30 min mile as long as I can. Hope everyone is rocking and rolling! (Side note, I ran 33 miles back in July and learned what it means to run an ultra.)

How to Know When to Increase Your Training
Our training philosophy is built around one question: How high can you SOAR? SOAR represents the four pillars we use in our training: Stress, Optimize, Adapt, Recover. One of the biggest mistakes we see athletes make is adding more stress, or the wrong kind of stress, before they’ve actually adapted to the training they’re already doing. When it comes to increasing training volume, athletes often add more simply because they feel good or think they need to, not necessarily because they’ve earned it. Before adding more, you need to be consistent with your current training, handle the workload well, and give your body enough recovery time to adapt. Too much, too soon is one of the easiest ways to end up injured. What are you currently trying to increase: distance, frequency, speed, strength, or all of the above?

@Aaron Hopkinson read, acknowledged, and implemented. Right now I’m running 6.5 miles , 6:36 on a tread at 1% incline at an average 150 heart rate. Peak heart rate I’ve had is 199 even if I’m 31. As I’m getting into shape right now I’m noticing the need to get my legs moving. I’m picking up speed with my fitness, but I want to get faster and faster!
WEEK SIX CHALLENGE
For the next 7 days, the challenge is 10 minutes of wall sits every day. Break it up however you need throughout the day. 5 minutes twice a day, 1 minute every hour, or whatever works best for you! Just get your 10 minutes in. LFG
