Measuring Records Management Performance
Metrics help demonstrate value and support continuous improvement. Measuring disposal activity, compliance, or training makes governance visible and actionable. Metrics only help if they reflect reality and inform decisions. Reflection questions: - Do you currently track any RIM metrics? - Which metric would provide the most insight? Action: Define one simple records management metric to start tracking.

@Paul Mullon indeed, RM metrics must align/support business goals. RM exist to support business to achieve it strategic objectives in an efficient and effective manner. The reason why RM initiatives failure is due to this alignment, which results in lack of leadership support and commitment, lack of funding and resources because the top management will find it difficult to invest on something not contributing to the goals and objective of the organisation. I also agree that Indicators must be developed using a SMART principle (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound).
