My frustrations are many! I know that I need to cook more and I know that I feel better when I eat raw fresh foods! Period. After dealing with chronic pain and having to use pto for sick days instead of vacations I know making small changes a little at a time will steadily get me where I want to be …..healthier!!
The Dangers of Non-Stick Coating
The dangers of non-stick coatings, especially those made with traditional materials like polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) (commonly known as Teflon), include: 1. Release of Toxic Fumes - At high temperatures (above 500°F or 260°C), non-stick coatings can release toxic fumes, which may cause polymer fume fever (flu-like symptoms) in humans and can be lethal to pet birds. 2. Risk of Harmful Chemicals - Older non-stick coatings may contain perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), a chemical linked to health issues such as cancer, thyroid disease, and developmental problems. While PFOA has largely been phased out, older cookware may still pose a risk. 3. Surface Degradation - Scratches or damage to the coating can cause flakes of the material to mix with food, potentially leading to ingestion of non-stick particles, which are indigestible and not recommended for consumption. 4. Environmental Concerns - Non-stick coatings, particularly those made with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), persist in the environment, contributing to pollution and affecting ecosystems. Safer Alternatives For better health, consider alternatives like stainless steel, cast iron, or ceramic-coated cookware, which avoid these potential risks.

Yep I love cooking in my cast iron pans. The non stick coated pans gross me out. Lol
Who We Are: A Journey to True Wellness
Hi, we’re Mark and Sandra, a married couple of 22 years, (I’m 50, and Mark is 47). Over the years, we’ve tried it all—fad diets, extreme workout regimens, restrictive eating plans—and nothing seemed to give us lasting results. It wasn’t until a few years ago that we started taking a deeper dive into understanding food and its true effects on the body, and that’s when everything changed. What we’ve learned in our research has been eye-opening. We’ve uncovered things that the food industry and even many doctors don’t talk about—critical knowledge that can help you make informed, healthy choices. We’ve created this community to share that knowledge with you, because we believe the more you know about food and its impact on your body, the better decisions you can make for your health. We’re both on our own wellness journey, and it’s not always easy—figuring out where to start, what to eat, and how to break old habits can be overwhelming. But that’s why we’re here. In this community, we’ll guide you through everything we’ve learned. We’ll break it down step by step—the why and the how—so you can understand exactly how food affects your body and systems. From delicious, nutrient-dense recipes to grocery shopping tips, and from understanding harmful chemicals and additives to navigating food labels—we’ve got you covered. This isn’t about quick fixes or another fad diet. It’s about education, creating a healthy relationship with food, and making lasting changes for true wellness. We’re in this together, and we’re excited to help you on your journey toward a healthier, more balanced life. Welcome to the community! Let’s learn, grow, and thrive together.
