We are officially ‘homeless’…
Whilst we have been onboard Odyssey of the Seas… our house sale officially went through. So right now, we are officially working remotely, living on cruise ships, and travelling full time. Which sounds a bit mad when you actually write it down 😅 But here is the honest part… Working from a cruise ship isn’t just: “Take your laptop and log on” What actually makes it work: – Reliable WiFi setup (we don’t rely on ship WiFi alone) – Planning around time zones – Knowing where you can actually work onboard – Choosing itineraries that fit around work It has been a big shift for us, but we have learned a lot quickly, with mistakes in between! We get asked a lot of questions, so I am in the process of creating a downloadable cheat sheet. In the meantime, I have built a full classroom detailing everything we have learned! You can access it here. Of course, any questions happy to help. We are travelling back to Scotland today to stay at my mums for 6 days then we are off the Malaysia. Slightly worried we won’t get home though as major strikes across Spanish airports… we are flying from Barcelona airport.😅 wish us luck!

Congratulations, I am sure that is exciting and scary at the same time.
Day 1 onboard and very rough seas. 🌊
We were up and working on UK hours so ship time 5am was our reality, and I love the ship at this time of the morning. It feels like you have it all to yourself. We took advantage of everyone still being asleep and worked in Two70 for a couple of hours. I had room service coffee delivered to the cabin so we headed back, enjoyed the coffee, and carried on working. Breakfast was back in Two70 for a quick bite before getting the laptops back out. It’s one of my favourite things about working remotely at sea, those early morning hours where the ship feels like it’s just yours. The seas were rough all day and all outdoor decks were closed which meant everyone was inside. The ship that felt quiet and calm at 5am was a very different story by the afternoon! We planned on heading to the gym after we finished work but the gym was FULL, nothing was free so we went later on on in the day. Tonight was formal night AND 70s night combined, a first for us doing two theme nights in one! We were supposed to see the Effectors but it got cancelled due to the high winds and safety of the cast. We ended up in Two70 with a couple of drinks listening to the band which was lovely, then headed to the main dining room for dinner, Taste of France night. Zero complaints. By the time evening hit the ship was really moving. We are talking like when you are walking like you have had one too many, that kind of rocky. One thing worth mentioning if you are thinking about a transatlantic, the clocks go forward. We are doing it four nights in a row. Something to factor in when you are planning your sleep and your schedule. All in all a productive and lovely sea day. Have you ever sailed through rough seas? Let me know in the comments!👇

Seems like. Long day!
5 Sea Days vs 6 Port Days, Which Would You Choose?
We board Odyssey of the Seas on Sunday. New York to Barcelona. 15 nights.🥳🛳️ Here is what the itinerary looks like: 5 consecutive sea days in the middle of the Atlantic… followed by 6 port days in a row at the end as we sail into Europe. Two completely different cruises stitched together into one sailing.😂 So here is my question for the community, which would you rather have? 5 sea days to recharge, read, eat too much, and do absolutely nothing? Or 6 port days back to back where you are off the ship exploring every single morning? Because most people have a very strong opinion on this. I want to know yours.👇

6 port days is hard and a lot. It completely depends on what the ports are and if I have been there before. However, 5 sea days could be a bit boring and even claustrophobic. I would have to choose the 6 port days, because you can choose to stay on the ship. On the 5 sea days, you can not choose to get off the ship. Of course it would be best to have the 6 port days, before the 5 sea days, if you could choose. That would give you a chance to recuperate after all to the walking.
Sorry for being quiet…
Just a quick message to apologise for being slightly quieter on here… if you didn’t know, we are currently in the process of packing up our life into 2 suitcases and moving to the other side of the world! (Scotland to Malaysia). We have sold our home so it is all a bit mad, as well as we are on a cruise from New York NEXT WEEK!! So trying to get organised for this too.😂 as well as daily life/work/family commitments. It is very busy/chaotic, but I know all the stress will be worth it! We are embarking on Odyessy of the seas from New York. It is a 15 night transatlantic cruise.🤩🛳️ We will be posting updates in here whilst onboard and answering any of your questions.

Love you guys are so adventurous!
Where are you going for breakfast…
I posted a video on my socials yesterday around how we tend to avoid the buffet on cruise ships at breakfast as they can be pretty crazy…😅🍽️ It is getting a debate going so I would love to know where you guys prefer too!👇

On port days when we are strapped for time, we like cabin service. We like the main dining room as much as possible, great service, better food and a slower pace. In the main dining room our normal dining room manager asked how our breakfast was in our room. I told him, I didn't care for the hash-browns, he said there is another kind and had the other kinds sent the next time.
