Hey everyone 👋 Firstly, a massive welcome to all the new members who have joined recently… so good to have you here. For anyone new, I’m Katrina, I have done 35+ cruises and this space is all about helping you get more from your cruises, whether that’s tips, planning help, or just learning from other people who love cruising as much as you do. Quick life update… we have officially sold our home in Scotland and are now travelling full-time, and right now I am based in Kuala Lumpur 🇲🇾 (for a little while) It is definitely different from cruise life (a bit more thinking involved 😅), but I’m loving it so far. Slower pace, amazing food, and it’s exciting being closer to cruise ports that open up completely new itineraries we have never done before. Cruising is still a huge part of our life, this is just a new chapter alongside it. Would love to get to know you all a bit more, how many cruises have you been on?👇

I was looking at some sailings in September 2026 out of Galveston to Mexico and Honduras. Which puts you at sea the entire first day, mostly in the Gulf of Mexico. I then found out this is month with the most and strongest hurricanes in the Atlantic Season. No wonder they are the cheapest available...lol. I don't have to sail then and am now considering waiting till WAVE season or Black Friday to book my next sailing. Have any of you ever had to sail around a hurricane? I know the ships try to avoid the worst of it. I don't think a Tropical storm or hurricane would make for a fun week on a ship. Any thoughts? I'm perfectly fine sailing in Jan or Feb I just don't see good prices yet.

Royal Caribbean has now opened Royal Beach Club Santorini, and I am really interested to see what people think of this one.🇬🇷 It is their first beach club in Europe, and it is part of the Ultimate Santorini Day excursion, so you get Oia, Fira and then time at the beach club with transport, loungers, Wi-Fi, food and drinks included.🍽️🍹 I can see why this will appeal to a lot of people because Santorini can be a stressful port if you are trying to do everything yourself, especially with crowds, queues and limited time. Having something organised could make the day feel a lot easier. But I also know some people won’t love the idea of Santorini becoming another “beach club” style cruise stop, especially when part of the appeal is exploring the island properly. It is a beautiful island, I am really torn on this one! Would you book it, or would you rather do Santorini yourself?🇬🇷

Mines was 35 nights and I remember before we did it, people kept saying I would get bored after a week or two which couldn’t have been further from the truth. If anything, the longer ones are the ones that feel the most relaxed because you’re not constantly trying to fit everything in. I still get asked how much this cruise cost… would it be worth sharing? (Sailed from Barcelona to Singapore) I think people massively underestimate how different a 7 night cruise feels compared to something longer. Would be interesting to hear what everyone else has done because I know there is a mix in here.😊
