I disagree. 90% of these books werent sold before they were bought by Antrophic and co but were sitting on the shelf for decades because no one was interested in them anymore. You cant blame a bookstore to sell books they wouldnt usually sell. The real problem is not even the destruction of rare books in the scanning process but the private, exclusive and facultative existing of the scanned pages. if anthrophic just uses the scanned pages to train the model and discards the scan files afterwards, that would be destruction of intellectual value. otherwise it's just progess for items for which no one was interested in physical form anymore.
