Safe From Fires...For Now
Hey Everyone, Just wanted to give you an update. My family and I live quite close to the fire zone, actually right aover the hill from it. We’ve been under an evacuation warning and had no power, internet, or 4/5G for the past three days and it's been a real challenge keeping up with the news and of course friends and family. What a way to start 2025! Thankfully, power came back on today. These fires have been absolute monsters. So many friends have lost their homes, and it’s just devastating. I’m hoping all other community members in the LA area are safe and taking care of themselves. These are a couple of shots I took of the fire but it was pitch black out and they came out kind of lousy. They actually make it look worse than it was that night but it was still pretty scary considering this is looking towards Malibu, which is over this hill from us looking towards the Pacific Ocean. Stay safe out there.

Wishing you a restful and restorative holiday season @Lawrence Jordan
Film and television editor in Canada
Hi everyone, I’m a seasoned editor of fiction content based out of Montreal, Canada. I’ve always kept my ear to the ground for new tools and workflows that I can incorporate into my editorial process. So the past year or so has been very exciting given all the incredible tools AI puts at our disposal. It seems evident that AI is and will continue to be a game-changer for productions of all formats. I look forward to continuing to explore all the possibilities with one core goal in mind: offering audiences the best bang for their buck.

Hi, David. Nice to see a fellow Canadian editor here! I'm based in Ottawa so we're basically neighbours. I work primarily in the advertising space these days but have a broadcast background and have worked with many charities and NGOs over the years. Excited to see how these new tools can help bring important stories to life. Cheers!
Hello from up North šŸ‘‹
Hey there! I’m Marissa—a Canadian video editor, sound designer, and creative consultant with an interest in emerging tech, ethical storytelling, and a passion for impact-driven work. You may have seen my projects on The Verge, Design Taxi or DigitalRev, or maybe on Bravo, APTN, or History Television. Alongside my work in the advertising industry, I've collaborated with charities and NGOs to amplify meaningful stories. I’m all about crafting compelling narratives through video editing, motion design, and music production—I also make a pretty mean gif. Let’s connect over how AI can bring new stories to life—and make sure we’re doing it responsibly.

Thanks so much for the kind words!
šŸŽ¬ Welcome to AIography - Create Fearlessly! šŸŽ„
Hey I’m excited you joined my new Skool group, AIography - The AI Film Academy! This will be the place to dive deep into the intersection of AI, filmmaking and content creation. Right now, the group is in private mode and there's not much here. However, I plan on filling it with content very soon. As for my background, I’ve been a professional film and television editor for decades, working on both features and TV. I was one of the first editors to embrace digital workflows, which led to consulting roles with companies like Adobe, Apple, and Avid—so I know a thing or two about cutting-edge technology and storytelling. My goal with this group is to share everything I’ve learned about AI’s role in filmmaking, from tools to techniques, to help you stay ahead of the curve in this rapidly changing industry. One of the most exciting parts for me is that we will all be building this community together. I want to know what you want to learn, how you plan to use AI to achieve your goals and dreams, and how we can work together to push the limits of what’s possible. We’ll be posting news about the latest AI film festivals so you can enter your projects, and we’ll showcase each other’s work, giving and receiving feedback to help make our projects the best they can be. And we'll have guest speakers from my many years in the industry to provide wisdom and guidance. You’ll be among the first to access exclusive content, tips, tutorials, and discussions about how AI is transforming film and television production. You're now part of a community that’s just getting started, but where the potential is limitless.
