Midweek Q&A
Top of the morning 🌄 I hope everyone is well. We've crossed the great divide and the weekend is almost upon us. For today's Q&A, I wanted to know if any of you have been or are a fully plant based eater? I ate fully plant based for two years and although I felt great I found it really hard to keep muscle on my body. I shoot for a more balanced approach now but majority of my food is plant based. Any favourite recipes or meals?

I am more of a plant-based girlie and "of course" colour is my guide - ensuring I get the "rainbow" in and proteins are then tuna, sardines, seeds pea proteins, vollagen etc. Interesting topic 🥰
Full house incoming
Goodmorning After over a week of having to fend for myself 🙈, my wife is finally coming home. My son also arrives on Thursday from South Aftica and we're gonna celebrate his birthday again. Feels like we're finally gonna have the family in one place. In between all of that, training has been going well. I have a short run scheduled for today, as I keep working towards that Half Marathon. I also sat down to chat with Danni, a registered Dietician out of South Africa. I'll release the video soon but I think you'll all find it interesting. Also attached one of my favourite meals right now. Black beans/Chick Peas/tomato with green beans and a small serving of chicken. What's your week looking like?

@Mk Duma oeee- enjoy having the whole family together and celebrating - what a joyous occasion it is indeed🥳. I'm looking forward to your convo with the dietician. This week - training some awesome human beings to become master facilitators. PS: I do have permission to share their photo. This is work they have created and I just love to witness the pride in their smiles for the "hard work" they put in while upskilling. Movement (aka exercise) will be lacking this week but I will catch up over the weekend and move a bit more. Have a wonderful week everyone 🥰

@Mk Duma awhh you are too kind with your compliments. I loovvee both in person and online learning - both are extremely satisfying when those insights and shifts occur for trainer and learner alike. I would love a conversation with you. M x
We're back!! Monday
Happy Monday everyone🌄 Hopefully we all managed to recharge our batteries a bit for the week ahead. I made a purposeful decision to be less online and more in the tangible real world. I could feel myself start to get worn down by the incessant connectivity. As a result, I had a glorious sleep and feel eager to get going again. How do you regulate your "online fitness" or do you never worry about it?

@Mk Duma this makes total sense. I'm on about the same amount as you - and then of course - I need to be mindful about launching my own "LEAPreneur" community on my Bday, 29 August, which I'm sure will need a lot more time investment than just being a member of a community

The diet doesn't matter as much as you think. 🧵
Here's the proof: In the 1930s, patients lost an average of 140 lbs on a diet of white rice, fruit, and sugar. Not the name brand diets you hear about these days (Keto, Vegan, Carnivore). White rice and fruit!! Because fat loss has always come down to the same 3 things, no matter what diet label you're using: ✅ Caloric deficit over 7 days ✅ Enough protein to protect your muscle ✅ Resistance training to keep that muscle GLP-1s (Ozempic) work because they suppress your appetite → creating the deficit. Keto (High fat, no carbohydrates) works because it eliminates food categories → creating the deficit. Carnivore (Meat only) works because protein and fat are satiating → creating the deficit. Vegan (Plant based foods only) works because plants are low calorie density → creating the deficit. See the pattern? Stop fighting over the vehicle. Focus on the destination. I'll be delving more into Nutrition, going forward and will share an amazing conversation soon. If you have a particular question you'd like addressed on Nutrition, please post below an I will ask my guest tomorrow. She is a great mind on food!!

@Mk Duma I would love some local South African points of view on intermittent fasting, menopause etc 🫶

@Mk Duma fabulous - thank you. I do the 8:16 fast, but there is currently controversy about the circadian rhythm's influence and the importance of keeping the eating window within the day and fasting as soon as it gets dark. Curious about your guest convo. Enjoy the conversation
