๐Ÿ“‚ New Folders + ๐ŸŽจ New Art Hack
I've re-organized the 7 Basic Folds playlist into a Fabrics folder, separated them all and added the videos! I've also added a new Artistic Principles folder and added the first art hack; Foreshortening.

Help
How do I study an artstyle without copying
3 likes โ€ข 3d
This is how I do it, but idk if it works for everyone: 1. Gather resources Gather the references of whatever you want to study (Get alot of references from different angles) 2. Study Here, I trace the references, but I do it in *my* process of drawing After I've traced, I draw the reference again while looking at it (Not trace) After that, I draw the reference 1 more time from memory 3. Compare Then I compare the three so see the difference You should notice something like "my shadow are thinner compared to the reference" or "they use straights, but I use curves" 4. Improve/Adapt Once you notice the difference, draw the reference again - without looking at the original reference, just your 3 This time though, your drawing it with the intention of "correcting" your previous mistakes
My practice
This mask method looks awesome! The only thing I'm struggling with is making both eyes look right. I know I should keep an eye on the corners lining up for the perspective, but maybe there are other tricks? Anyway, I think this method is going to work really well for me โ€” I just need more practice! ๐Ÿ˜

@Yevhen Syrchin I'm not experienced in faces, so take this with buckets of salt But I'm thinking realism is also a style Just like "stylised" art, you do things in specific ways and have specific proportions If that's the case, then I'd say focus on construction from all angles. Because once you have the foundations and know the construction, it's all a matter of choosing *how* to construct things That's where style comes from
New post categories + feel free to share and post!
Hey everyone! I have create a couple new categories to hopefully encourage posting and sharing of work, ideas, resources, inspiration, etc, in a more organized fashion. I started this skool to share my art hacks from TikTok and eventually even more, but this space is for you all just as much as it is for me! A community where we can all learn and grow as artists and visual storytellers together. The "General Discussion" category is just that. I will continue posting course updates (may eventually just create a category for "Updates" ๐Ÿ˜…), but feel free to use this category for questions, art hack requests, thoughts about the latest movie/game/comic/manga/anime/etc. release, for discussion on how much you loved or maybe didn't love it, what you might have done differently as a storyteller and so on. The "Share Your Work" category is exactly how it sounds. Share your work!! Maybe you need feedback on your practice, work in progress, how to lay out a scene, how to use foreshortening, make a character a bit more dynamic, panel design... or maybe you just want to get over the initial hump of being nervous to share your work publicly. That's fine too! This Slinging Ink Skool is all about progress not perfection. I've categorized the 3 posts by @Jayden Phan @Manga Temzy and @Yevhen Syrchin (btw thanks for sharing!) as "Share Your Work" so now when you go to that category you will find them all in one place ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. The "Inspiration + Resources" will be a great place to share some of your favorite artists/storytellers that have inspired your own creative journey or new ones you've discovered (I am personally always looking for new artists to learn from so excited to see what you all share here) or other resources that you have found super helpful like books, podcasts, or even art supplies you love to use. I do an "Artist of the week" for my students and am thinking of replicating that here.
