What races are on tap for 2026?
Tell us where you're racing, when, and what distances they have! And if you have any fun facts (or horror stories) to share, do that too! (We're trying to gather info on races and what they offer.)

They have special category divisions - open (10 paddlers in a standard boat) 1x250, 2x500; masters (40+) 1x500m. One day event. >World Beat Festival Dragon Boat Race in Salem OR. Two days. >Portland, OR September - 4x500m, plus 'Around the Bridges' 2000m if we qualify. The club register 2 mixed & 4womens, and a combined ACP crew. This is largest race in our area. Like Lesley said: tents are set up in a park that is a little like an amphitheatre, so just about everyone can see the second half of each race.
Steers as team members: to pay or be paid?
Thanks to @Will Bober for inspiring this question. I'm curious.... how does your club structure the steering role? Is it a dues-paying role (i.e. do your steers pay club dues like everyone else), do you comp their dues, or do you pay your steers for their time?

All members (including steers) of our club pay yearly dues ($45), which covers insurance and dock fees. Steers do not pay monthly paddling fees, if they are willing to help cover other teams as needed. Most pay the monthly anyways. All steers also paddle so they figure it all works out.
