How do you read your Bible?

I currently read following a yearly plan on the Bible app! The first time I read the Bible cover to cover I did it at my own pace with no plan as I could read as much or as little as possible a day. It took me a year and a half that first time, but ever since I’ve found it easier to finish the Bible yearly, and I like plans to give me extra information and context about what I’ve read. I like to switch around different translations on the Bible app, I read both physical NIV and ESV Bibles, sometimes I read it and sometimes I have it read to me. This is especially helpful in chapters of genealogies and design instructions, as it overrides my tendency to glaze over repetitive lines. I have no set place, I just always try to have it be one of the first things I do each day!
Breakfast Casserole
I shook up my breakfast meal prep last week and it was so delicious, I’m doing it again this week! Ingredients: 1 lb breakfast sausage 1 green bell pepper, diced 1 yellow onion, diced Bacon bits Seasonings: garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper 1 bag Ore Ida Crispy Crowns 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese 6 eggs 1 1/4 cup milk 1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray a 9x13in casserole dish with cooking spray and set aside. 2. In a frying pan, cook the sausage meat, bell pepper, and onion. Once meat is browned and veggies softened, season with listed seasonings and 4 Tbsp of bacon bits, and continue to cook for 2 minutes. 3. Turn off heat and add the bag of Crispy Crowns. Stir to combine. 4. Pour contents into the prepared casserole dish and stir in 1/2 cup of Mexican cheese. 5. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and milk together, seasoning with additional salt and pepper. Pour egg mixture over contents in casserole dish. Top with remaining cheese and 2 Tbsp of bacon bits. 6. Bake for 45 minutes or until no longer runny. You and your family can all share this one morning or, if you’re meal prepping like me, slice it into 6 equal portions, place in meal prepping containers, and refrigerate for up to 6 days. Enjoy the yumminess!!!!

I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist
“but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬ ‭ESV‬‬ I have another book recommendation for you! I recently read I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist by Norman L. Geisler and Frank Turek. It follows a 12-point progression to the veracity of the Bible. If you’re anything like me, I have struggled with the insecurity of how to answer for my faith! In an increasingly atheistic world, Christians should feel equipped with the truth that Christianity does not require the blind faith atheism does. While I didn’t think Christianity was unconvincing, I felt I personally didn’t have the evidence I need on hand to logically argue for the truth of the Word of God. I couldn’t put this book down! If you want to take a step toward feeling more equipped to engage skeptics and atheists and believers of other world religions - read this book!! P.S. I read it on Audible so if you prefer that method of reading I can attest to the audiobook being read very well! Sometimes audiobook readers’ voices can grate and this one does not!

Lent thoughts
With Ash Wednesday coming up this week and the beginning of Lent what are you giving up/ fasting OR what habit are you adding for Lent? Do you typically participate in Lent? What’s been the impact on your spiritual life?

I have never fasted anything for Lent. However, I do like to use the time to add an extra devotional on top of my daily practices or books I’m reading! One of my favorites was a few years back I reread Jesus the King by Timothy Keller for Lent, which is a deep dive into Jesus’ life in Mark’s gospel. One of my favorite books ever!

Something I learned in Genesis a few weeks back is that when it says “the angel of the LORD” it’s actually the pre-incarnate Jesus - called a Christophany! I have always wondered about the distinction between when it says “the angel” vs “an angel.” Jesus is pointed to all throughout the Old Testament but I’m amazed to find out he also appears in it!!
