Would you be interested in a LIVE YouTube video
I created this little video today after last nights get together and it got me thinking that it might be fun to do a LIVE version tomorrow. Please watch and let me know if you think this would be good value to you as a player and I’ll set up a LIVE for tomorrow evening Serious About Pétanque? Watch This Match Analysis https://youtu.be/ApF9-S6jlE8

This is very useful. It shows you the options you have in such situations. You are no longer so powerless but take the lead by making a choice from the options available. You also look more from the position of the counterparty.

@Kevin ORourke Is one of the options in the video also to keep throwing your last balls near a ball (but in a better position) that is closest to the alignment? This puts the pressure on the opponent who has to shoot a carreau if he doesn't want to lose a potential point.
A lot of balls don't land on the donnee.
I saw a Lacroix game yesterday. He again placed excellently. But his balls often don't land on the donnee but right in front of it. I see that much more often. I think 80-90% of the balls are not thrown on the donnee but somewhere for it. What do you think? How do you deal with this? You throw a little further because you know he comes down earlier? You make your donnee a little bigger, or a little longer in length so that the ball lands on the donnee anyway? Or are there other ways to deal with this?

@Kevin ORourke I see that hitting the perfect donnee is a rarity for everyone.
Foyot brings the crowds
Marco Foyot still brings people wherever he plays and often despite not playing well! It never fails to amaze me how a few players bring 10x more viewers. Foyot is a great example, many people falling over themselves today to watch him play mediocre at best and the LIVE viewers when I filmed were big too. In comparison to much better games with say Bonetto, Sarrio and Montoro. I’ve seen this with Rocher, Quintais and Suchaud but I don’t see the same “Fan Boy” attitude with a lot of players. Who is your favourite and why?

Suchaud. He is stoic and very relaxed but behind this mask is also a cheerful man. So I saw him react very enthusiastically with a lot of laughter after a beautiful carreau that was very decisive in the game.
Sometimes singles is the hardest game
I just lost in the second game in a single tournament here in Bourg Saint Andéol. I’ve beaten the tough opponents in the first game and was confident going into the second game. I thought I had practised and worked out most of the terrains this morning whilst waiting for the competition and filming a little. However, nothing prepared me for the nightmare terrain that was chosen. I threw the Jack initially to 8 m and threw my first boule which promptly hit a stone and steamed off at a right angle and off the terrain!!!! I had a quiet word with myself and said shit happens through the second boule which hit another bastard stone and went 4 m to the back. It was at this days that I realised it would be much easier to shoot than to point. In the end, I lost quite a close game to a very good player, but whilst I was throwing 1 to 2 boule off the terrain he was only throwing one boule off the terrain. He won quite a few ends with 5/6 meter measures! Shooting was also difficult because of the stones and I don’t think I’ve ever lost to a terrain in my life. Although my opponent got to 13 before I did, I still don’t think he deserved the win. Have you ever lost to a terrain before?

I have also played a number of games on very difficult terrain. I sometimes have the impression that the correct length of the ball is more important than the precise placement. A crouched throw on a good donnee near the ring, so that the ball rolls over all the bumps, can also help. But sometimes it just doesn't work.
Losing after a 0-8 lead with 13-8. A lot of mistakes.
I saw the next game https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=57ljyjMA_hI&ra=m I saw that a number of mistakes were made. The team change was not applied and according to me it often scores successfully for 75%. The losing party continued to place too often while I think shooting would have been more successful. As a result, the game always went according to a certain pattern where I had the feeling that this goes on and on and nothing changes. I also saw that one party had a ball advantage and went to place while the other party was at 2 points. Shooting at least 1 ball seemed to me the better option. What do you think? I am playing petanque in the Netherlands for 4 years.
