Elbow bend on throwing arm
Hi Had this issue since started couple years back but didn't notice it myself. My elbow is very bent on way back so don't make fluid/full backswing. Think it's combination of poor fundamentals (lack of coaching at start), tension and biomechanics (my 'wing span' is 10cm longer than my actual height, something picked up on in my golfing days). I'm struggling to find a drill/feel/solution to correct this properly. Have tried things such as wall drills, starting swing from shoulder height (like Jesus Escacho etc) starting from hip height, slow motion swings and so on. It's affecting consistency and my psyche as don't know how to sort it per se. Recently been concentrating on tempo and that has helped consistency of result but swing still flawed with this elbow bend. I would say I'm blessed with good hand to eye coordination and fast twitch muscles which means when I remember to release boule late I can make really nice boule to boule carreaus. But I'm keen to take game to next level by grooving reliable technique that depend upon on in competition. Any help much appreciated 😄

Hi Mattie, with me it's my age 😁 ... I have to really concentrate to keep my arm straight and not bend my elbow. What I do is to stretch my arm in the back swing and straighten it, keep it there for a second or two and then shoot or point. That pause also gives me a aim at the target. Good luck.
Consistency
What would be a good exercise for consistency with shooting, please ? Any ideas from anybody ? I place 3 target boules close to each other at any distance, as if it is in a competition around the cochonette. I pick the most difficult one to shoot at. Most time I hit, sometimes a carreau or good halve volley. The next two are off, sometimes way off. On a good day I hit the 2nd one but the third is a dud. Any other ideas to practice consistency ?

@Kevin ORourke Thanks Kevin. I do set the boules up in a competition scenario, not just 3 in a row. Your advice about walking between shots sounds good, I will try that and relax more. Your advice is always good to follow, thanks again.

@Jimmy Skog I try to shoot the same style at 8-8.5m as at 6m+, but you are right. Reproducing it not easy
Improvement challenge for May
Pick one discipline you want to work on and sort some way of recording results. I’m going to be focusing on 10 meter shots and my technique to hit at this distance without strain or over throwing too hard. My way of measuring will be having a log that I have to throw over which will be 10cm or less in front and I’ll have 12 attempts and record my results. Bonus points if you record it on video and report back each week What will your preference be?

I have been and will continue to work on shooting ... my direction is not good. I miss a lot by a few cm at any distance, 6+ m to 8.5 m, I am at around 33.5%, maybe on a good day 50%. I want to be at around 75% but I am far from that. Same time I need to work on consistency, doing the correct shot every time.

When you are in a game and play bad. Do you have Any tricks(resetbutton) to avoid the frustration and irritation to build up? Does it all come down to breathing techniques or you do other stuff?

I keep quiet and try to think of a past similar situation when I was doing good. Tell myself I can do it again.
