A pondering
With the growth of natural horsemanship in the last 20 years has the horse benefited at all. Are we doing better or are things still tough for horses in our world. I see an enormous increase in great trainers, that is for sure. But the horses seem to be doing it just as tough and we even seem to have more issues with our horses. Is it simply a matter of predators and prey thinking too differently? Or are we becoming too soft and as a result our horses are more emotional? Something to ponder today

I think too many people fail to understand horses. They ride because it’s fun. When the horse does something undesirable he is ā€˜bad’ or manipulative or just fill in the blank. Until people really understand That prey think so differently horses will be trying to be heard.
Body control for gates

I love it when someone offers to hop down and get it and I call out no, wait, we’ve got it. We just sidle up to the gate and it may be a few back and forth and sideways moves to get it. But we always get it. LOVE my ponies!
Resilience
That’s what I train with mindset. Resilience. Shit happens for everyone. We all have bad days, some for longer than others. We’ve all have stuff happen to us in life that seems unfair. It’s how you respond to this stuff that is the key to happiness. Cowgirls mindset is about training in resilience- step by step, so you can deal with the shit and get on with creating a great life.

Oh do I agree! Last year my 27 yr old daughter who lives at home, had a seizure. After being in the hospital for a couple of days we learned she had an 8 cm mass in her brain. Fast forward the next 2 months were a whirlwind. Second opinions a 3 hour drive away, deciding to be treated there. Tests and more testing before surgery. Keeping it together for her and the horses. But crying my heart out every time I was in the car alone. Surgery went well but they can’t get it all. She’s on a med that is keeping it from growing. So fingers crossed.
