GM Coach Jeff, I’ve been trying to learn how to swim underwater. When I try to go down under the water I rise back to the top or I met resistance when I press down to go deeper. Do you have a video on how to do this? What are your recommendations?
@Laverne Suggs Here are some pointers that might help you dive deeper: - *Breath control*: Practice holding your breath comfortably; it helps with relaxation underwater. - *Body position*: Streamline your body to reduce drag – think head down, arms extended. - *Buoyancy management*: Wear appropriate weights or adjust your gear to help you descend easier. - *Leg movement*: Use controlled kicks like a flutter kick to help propel downward gently. - *Relaxation*: Stay calm; tension makes it harder to go under.
I started swimming late last year as a beginner swimmer who have never swam before.Am now able to swim across the pool though I feel am out of breath when I near the T. Is this my endurance and id so, any tips on how to improve this?
@Peris Ndegwa Feeling out of breath near the pool’s end is normal for beginners. It’s mostly about building endurance and improving your breathing technique. Tips to help: - Breathe regularly: exhale underwater, inhale quickly when turning your head. - Swim at a comfortable pace and gradually go farther. - Try interval training: swim short distances, rest, then repeat. - Focus on smooth, efficient strokes.
