Yes I will use this! 3 biggest roadblocks: - Big chunks of time allocated to other things such as work & school, which are sometimes basically 24/7 for months - Dispersed attention on all the things I want to do at once... have to clarify priorities/streamline - The feeling that I want to learn every piece of information there is to know about making films before I start! My biggest takeaway is that we don’t have to be perfect every moment in time from the beginning. So liberating!!!! My biggest concern is making something and it’s bad/still goes nowhere and feels like I’ve wasted more time.

Main lottery I’ve tried is auditions. Cost me: - Money - headshots, Actors Access / LA Casting subscription & photos/videos, self-tape equipment - Time - submitting, learning lines, organizing wardrobe/props, doing hair & makeup, rehearsing, filming (including slates and full-body shot furniture rearranging), editing - Energy that felt wasted as it didn’t lead to anything (with self-tapes barely even creating a relationship and perhaps not even an impression if tape is mostly skipped), and with that a deflating of that drive to hardcore pursue it, to be honest Main takeaways (can I share a few): - Proof not promise!!!!! Thank you for the reminder, this was so well explained here and really hit home in the right way. And how your network comes from your work, not the other way around. Makes so much sense! - Although one could possibly beat the odds, it’s so much more direct - and gives you actual control - to just bite the bullet and make your own stuff. And meaningful stuff!!!!! Not those frustrating auditions that are so far from anything you ever cared about. Also to not let trying to keep up with the lotteries at the same time prevent you from actually making something! - Also that anyone can be plenty talented and still not win the lottery - so don’t let not winning that dissuade you from your original intention.
