🎯 The Invisible Barrier That Stops Most Composers From Growing
Most composers don’t struggle because they’re not good enough. They struggle because they lose track of conversations, forget to follow up, or never build a real system around their creative career. We’ve all been there — spending hours on writing, mixing, or polishing tracks, and then realizing we never actually sent them anywhere.Or we send one email and hope it leads somewhere... but never follow up. Here’s something I’ve learned over the years:If you want your music career to grow, you need as much structure in your outreach as you have in your composing. A few simple tips that can make a massive difference: - Create a contact list. Even a simple spreadsheet with who you talked to, when, and what about is a game-changer. - Set follow-up reminders. Most deals and collaborations happen after the second or third message. - Systemize your outreach. Write short, repeatable message templates that you can personalize fast. - Track your opportunities. Know which companies you’ve reached out to, which ones replied, and which ones you want to contact next month. - Keep it human. Don’t turn into a marketer — just be consistent, professional, and helpful. The truth is, once you start treating your composing like a business, things shift dramatically. You suddenly know who to contact, what to send, and when to follow up — without burning out or losing your creative flow. That’s actually one of the reasons I’ve been working on tools that make this whole process easier, so composers can focus on what they do best: writing great music. But for now — I’d love to hear from you:👉 What’s the part of the “business side” that frustrates you most? Emails? Organization? Finding new clients? Let’s talk about it below — maybe I can share a few practical ways to make it easier.

I don’t know about other composers but in the film music business, i find it almost impossible (tried for so many years) to pass the invisible barrier of music supervisors, agencies, intermediaries that are blocking composers to reach their peers (directors, producers). Either you’re the friend of a supervisor or publisher that Introduces you to the right person at the right moment either way it’s going to be too hard and you’ll feel discouraged. I guess things happen or not. It happened for me during a 15 years time of a rewarding and exciting career and then, I’ve been put in orbit, watching other people make and get the gigs. Netflix and Amazon prime appeared, and the old world disappeared. I haven’t stopped, I am composing every day and I’m still trying to reach people who decide but for now, I’m more on unpaid gigs that what I’m made for : motion pictures, tv shows. One thing to conclude : you never know what can happen so compose every day, seize any opportunity without judging wether it will lead you through or not cause you don’t know, and yes, consistency in learning new techniques, networking and reaching people can only be a good move

Sorry I was sarcastic ! Yes a demo reel is good but it’s like something almost nobody is really going to watch and listen. I mean my experience is : you definitely need a demo reel like you need to justify a degree at university to tell people that yes you did the chores. Your demo reel needs to say : I’m in the business, I work on projects, look at them they are well produced, it sounds pro. But then it’s your networking and the fact that other people in the business trusted you

@Sam Monks i think you're totally right, when you're starting you need something to show. those days you even could make up an AI sequence and compose over it so that youve got material to show, without to take anything existant.

Rise of Legends is Out!
Hey everyone, very happy to announce that my latest trailer music album "Rise of Legends" under the label of Epic Score has been released to all major platforms today! If you want to dive deep into this album and my latest experiences in trailer/production music writing and production, just a gentle reminder that I will analyze all of the twelve tracks of this album to bits in my new course Trailer Music Trailblazers. You can unlock it right here in the classroom for $97 for the next 24 hours. In 24 hours this course will go up to $147. If you prefer Paypal or monthly installments, you can get it → HERE (make sure you use the same payment email as your Skool email, otherwise the automation will have a problem assigning you to the course. If that's the case, you can always let me know and I will enrol you manually - no problem!) As you read this, I am busy producing and uploading all of the videos. ... and as always, as a member of the Audio Artist Rise Program, you have free access to all my courses!
