I think this is the group where we were talking about using a soil blocker. I had my son record me making a few blocks the other day with mine. When you're making them, if a lot of soil is staying behind when you lift the blocker up, add a little more water. I mix in some coco coir both for moisture retention and to help the soil stay together.

Plugs are not as resilient plants that are sown direct and tend to bolt early, on the other hand, plugs give a quick early crop , especially if the weather is good at the start of the season. Also plugs( starts )are easily planted into a thick mulch . Both ways of seeding plants work and combining the two is the option I chose.

@Sharon Prahl How big will your first bed bed be... sq ft x sq ft What will be the first things you plant? This will get me started on making a succession plan for that bed. Thank you

The small veg plots is now planted with the First part of succession ; baby leaf salad , radish and sugar snap peas. There's also carrots, spring onions and leeks direct sown . The second part , next week is planting in the interspacing and then the week after the last part is sowing in the interspacing, so the soil is 100% covered. As crops are havested the holes are filled with new plants or sowings just until the weather is too hot .
