Scapular hangs/pull ups advice
Hi all. I started day 1 today. I didn't want to wait until next Monday so I'll do Tuesday to Saturday the first week. This is a. Park that's convenient for me to get to. I used this for scapular hangs. Just above the yellow bar there's a red bar. It isn't perfect, but this park is across the road from me and I can't think of anywhere else in the area. I don't even know if I was doing them correctly, and the yellow bar is very slightly in the way. Does this look suitable? The bar is higher than me, but not by much so had to lift my feet off the ground. The park also contains a Children's playground and I guess I could investigate if there's anything there I could use I stead. But I'd only be comfortable doing that if there were no children there at the time.

It’s probably worth checking the kids playground. As well as frames, they also often have bars you can use for inverted rows. But I agree about not using them unless kids are with their parents, etc.

I had Bubois on points. Man, did I get that wrong. Not sure why the ref didn’t end it earlier.
Behind the Scenes
My memoir, Anything But Ordinary, is coming together, and the first draft is getting close to being finished. Neil, my first reader, has been reading the French Foreign Legion section. His feedback was really positive. Seven months ago, I wasn’t even sure I had any business writing a book. I had the stories, but putting them on paper for other people to read? That was a different matter. Now, writing has become my new normal. I sit down, get the words out and keep moving the book forward. Some days they come easily. Other days, it’s a fucking struggle. But I keep showing up. That’s the lesson I wanted to share here: you can start something while you’re still questioning whether you’re capable of it. Confidence can grow out of doing the work. It’s the same with training. Something that feels unfamiliar or beyond you today can become a regular part of your life through repetition. You give yourself evidence that you can do it. Finishing the memoir will be a big moment, but I intend to keep writing every day afterwards. I’ve built a habit I want to keep. There are more stories to tell. What’s something you once doubted you could do that has now become part of your normal life?

I like this a lot. Not enough people talk about building belief. I do it a lot too, thinking is this the right thing, or is that without actually trying anything to see. As for changes, becoming stronger. I always thought it meant you had to be built like Arnold so I never really pursued it. But it’s been a huge revelation what’s possible with consistency over time.
Goals!
Anyone got any goals so see out the year on a high? I plan on completing the old British Army CFT on New Years Eve. 8 miles in under 2 hours, with 55 pounds. I am looking forward to the process!

I never thought about this but it’s a great idea. Is that ruck graded by age? I found a page on Wikipedia with an age breakdown for the push-ups and sit-ups for the Annual Fitness Test and they seem fine but that ruck is another level. I’ve been looking for a breakdown for the Role Fitness Test but can’t find actual standards (incl. on the MOD page). Any clues?

@Andrew B Thanks, Andrew. I reread the article and it turns out the age (and gender) breakdowns are for the Personal Fitness Assessment (PFA). My bad. If I find any actual grading specs for the RFT, I’ll post them to the group.

Just an old hippie working on living to 100. I may quit but it won’t be today.
