Content Strategy Planning Day 1/12
We're heading into 2025 with ease, flow, and strategy planning — and I could not be more excited for this asynchronous approach. I've heard from so many of you that you're not quite ready to go back to the grind, so let's stay cozy for a while, shall we? Starting today, I'll post daily (except for the weekends) questions to get you started with your content strategy planning. My goal is to make this feel less like you're drinking from a firehose and more like you're making steady, intentional, thoughtful progress. By the end of our few weeks working through this strategy planning, you'll have a clear idea of what to do daily, weekly, and monthly to grow your list, grow your business, and grow toward your 2025 goals. Pro tip: Grab a notebook or open a Google Doc to jot down your ideas throughout this process. This will be personal, so choose what feels best to you — analog or digital mode. Today's question to ponder: Fill in these blanks — My ultimate goal is to get [AUDIENCE] to [OUTCOME]. If you haven't yet, think through who you're serving with some depth (you can check the classroom section for more guidance). Then, think through the outcome you want to help them achieve. Get specific. Get clear. When you're done, drop your filled-in sentence below so we can check it out and get to know you better (which is important if we're going to refer others your way)!

My ultimate goal is to get Nonprofits to hire me to help them meet project deadlines on budget so I can (in some way) contribute to their community changing efforts! My first go was "My ultimate goal is to get nonprofits to hire me!", but that felt too shallow - for lack of a better word. Truth is I want to see nonprofits be successful so they can change the world for kids in need, homeless, help low-income families, provide the elderly with heat in winter and food resources when their government stipend falls short. I want to help nonprofits improve efficiency so the money and effort better feeds into their community programs instead of seeing those dollars not get fed back into the community because they are paying toward obstacle ridden processes. "Hire me" is too diluted, although it is the simplest and clearest.
Outbound Marketing Sprint Day 4
This week, we're running an outbound marketing sprint. Every day through Dec. 20, I'll post a category of people to spend 10 minutes (or more) engaging with by commenting, liking, or sharing (and tagging) their content. You can do this on ANY platform, from Instagram to Substack to LinkedIn. The goal isn't to get noticed by these people specifically but also by their followers, who poke their heads in the comments to find other like-minded souls. Day 4: Send 5 intentional DMs. This isn't a cold call type of event. This is a genuine connection that you'll be making in the inbox. Send 5 DMs to say hello, introduce yourself, compliment or comment about their content in a kind way, and start the conversation. If you're not sure how to follow up, end the DM and ask how you can support them beyond commenting/liking on social media. You never know what podcast guest, newsletter swap, etc. you'll bump into when you do this.

Love this! I'll work on this throughout the day. How often do you recommend repeating this sprint - engraining it into our normal flow for intentional growth?

In substack, I with there were more categories similar newsletters were a bit easier to find. BUT I have found some REALLY cool connections that have followed my newsletter and have recommended it to their subscribers. So, your process is totally working. AND I don't feel cringy!
SUBSTACK Notes
Substack users, how to you best utilize the notes section? Do you post information about your biz? Personal info about you? Or just info about your newsletter? I want to strike the right balance of promoting the newsletter, but making sure people SEE NCS and also feel like they know me too. Thoughts? Advice?
Other Social Post idea....
Kimberly posted on social the other day with an easy formula... "I help_____ do____ so they can _________." I posted today using this on FB and LinkedIn. I think it was a brilliant and easy way to get the attention of the audience AND then pitch an offer. Here's the link to what I posted! https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19dkJ1UHiD/

Looking forward to sending out inquiries to try and identify the next nonprofit I am going to highlight! Then I'm going to figure out how I'm gojg to best utilize the power of substance to continue to grow my audience.

@Kimberly Crossland here are a few ideas 1. Continue to find newsletters that have a similar goal or reach a similar audience 2. Potentially create a secondary tactical post to accompany the newsletter about Red Sleigh Toy Run posted 12/10. For example, give more details on their timeline and what prep goes into their actual run. 3. Begin to think about how I can report some of my old blog content in the newsletter to help nonprofits and continue to gain momentum 4. Post a video, that i can link to my Substack newsletter & notes... and on FB, that talks about the organization. Like a highlight.
