Tiny Delights Are Not Tiny
Happy Sunday, joy rebels. ✨ Today I want to talk about tiny delights. Ross Gay, in The Book of Delights, spent a year noticing and writing about ordinary moments of delight: a tomato seedling on an airplane, flowers pushing through sidewalk cracks, a small nod of connection, the everyday wonders we usually bulldoze past on our way to “being productive.” His work reminds us that delight is not denial. It is attention. It is the nervous system whispering, “Hey. There is still beauty here.” And that feels like a very Sunday thing to practice. Noticing delight does not mean life is perfect. It means we are awake enough to catch the sparkle when it shows up wearing sweatpants. So today, your joy practice is simple: Look for one tiny delight. The first sip of coffee. The way the light hits the kitchen floor. A text from someone who gets you. A dog living its absolute best sidewalk life. Clean sheets. A ridiculous bird. A snack that understands the assignment. Then come back here and tell us: What tiny delight found you today? Because joy grows when we notice it. And it multiplies when we share it.

I went to a bookclub meeting today where the word JOY kept coming up and I immediately thought of you. We were discussing the Balinese people and their culture AND the difference between happiness and JOY!!! Thanks for showing up every time and making a joyful noise every chance you get! I appreciate you chica!

@Rachel Bents Happiness is a fleeting emotion that is usually ignited by outside forces as opposed to JOY which is usually an inside job and is carried with you so you are able to tap into it and share it without the need for a prompt!
Joy Can Hold Remembrance
Today is Memorial Day in the United States. And while many of us may be enjoying a long weekend, sunshine, food, family, rest, or a slower Monday, I want to pause and honor what this day is truly about. Today we remember the men and women who died while serving our country. Not as a vague idea. Not as a calendar square. But as real people. People with families. Stories. Laughs. Favorite meals. Inside jokes. Dreams they did not get to finish. And I think joy has a place here, not the loud, confetti kind of joy, but the sacred kind. The kind of joy that says: I will not waste this life. I will notice the people around me. I will love out loud. I will practice gratitude with my feet on the ground. I will remember that freedom is not abstract. It has names. Joy does not erase grief. Joy can sit beside remembrance. Joy can become reverence. Joy can become the way we live with more intention because someone else gave everything. So today, our joy practice is simple: Pause for a moment of gratitude. Say a prayer. Think of a family who is missing someone today. Notice something beautiful. Hug someone a little longer. Send the text. Take the walk. Live this day with honor. And then, if you feel comfortable, share below: What is one thing you are grateful for today? Today we remember. Today we honor. Today we let joy be a form of gratitude.

Where do we go next? ✨
The Joy-Led Leadership Forum was just the beginning. Now I want to hear from YOU. As we keep building this community, what would feel most useful, meaningful, and energizing? Would you love to see more: Weekly joy-led leadership conversations? Guest expert sessions? Small group connection calls? Book discussions? Real-life leadership prompts? Joy practices you can actually use in your day? More behind-the-scenes conversations from the forum? This space is not meant to be another place to consume content. It is meant to be a place to connect, practice, lead differently, and remember that joy is not the reward at the end. Joy is the strategy we build with. Drop a comment and tell me: What would you love to see next in this community?

@Lisa Kilby I will always show up to the joy led principles before personalities party! Thanks mama, the example you set is so delish!
Sunday is not for spiraling. Sunday is for noticing.
Before the week starts grabbing at your ankles, take a minute to check in with yourself. Not to judge the week. Not to make a 47-step plan. Not to decide you need to become a brand-new person by 7 a.m. tomorrow. Just notice. What gave you energy this week? What drained you? What felt easy? What felt heavier than it needed to be? Where did joy sneak in, even for a minute? Joy-led living begins with awareness. Because once you notice what gives you life, you can repeat it. Once you notice what drains you, you can adjust it. And once you notice joy, you start training your brain to find it more often. Tonight’s practice: Choose one thing you want to carry into the new week. Not twelve. Not a whole personality renovation. One thing. A walk. A pause. A text. A boundary. A slower morning. A little more laughter. A little less forcing. Joy is not something you chase after everything is handled. Joy is something you build into the way you begin. What is one thing you are carrying into this week?
