I have a question about the cost of an editorial assessment and proofreading service. I'm working with an editor as she's reviewing my manuscript. Is there a going rate for these services?

@Joe Tyndall Thank you for your valuable input. I've been using Claude and Grammarly for things like sentence structure and help with rephrasing paragraphs that sound odd. I went with a human editor mainly for the emotional insight. I appreciate the info!

Hi, I'm Kim Arendt and I'm working on my manuscript called "From Invisible to Intentional : From Soul-Crushing Job to Self-Defined Midlife Reinvention". It's taken me years to get to the point that I'm serious about launching a memoir/non-fiction book. @Julie Broad - I have your Self-Publish & Succeed book and now am worried that my 1st 20 pages (Prologue, Chapter 1 and Chapter 2) may not grip my audience of women over 50 ready for a career change. My prologue and Chapter 1 are on point, but Chapter 2 describes my family dynamic - the why I am the way I am - which flows easily from chapter 1's ending. It's the memoir part of the manuscript. Would it be best to move that chapter to later in the sequencing? I'm currently house/pet sitting in CA wine country so I'm sending a pic from here. My book is about helping midlife women get out of their 'stuck' career and into a position of clarity and purpose for their next chapter.
