Went to an OTB club today only played 3 games went 2-0-1 and beat two players rated well above me with much more experience I played the Catalan in both games I won as white had a draw that I should’ve converted but I hung a rook and it evened out material and we had a series of meaningless moves after that but I’m proud of myself my goal was to not get mated out of the opening and I didn’t so that’s a win in my book

My Name is Ken, I started playing chess a year ago. Currently 834 in 10 minute rapid, 555 in blitz. I worked really hard over the past year to get there I started at 300 dropped to 290 something and climbed up. I was 927 in rapid around Christmas time. Idk what happened but I think I got worst lol my main goal is to hit 2000 in rapid. It feels far fetched given my current struggles but I’m willing to put in the work. Saw that one of my favorite YouTubers follows this club on instagram and thought I’d give it shot!

I still get panicky in the end game and I almost always blow it! In the middle game I had an awkward position so castled queenside so I didn’t feel an immediate attack. Engine says it was wrong because I left some stuff hanging but for now a win is a win I’m going to keep working to keep my pieces coordinated any insight is welcomed !
