Welcome to Space Authors
Welcome, Sci-Fi Writers Please read the community guidelines in the Space Ranger Manual, accessible to all members. This is the place for science fiction writers, worldbuilders, space opera addicts, military sci-fi tacticians, hard sci-fi nerds, soft sci-fi philosophers, and anyone who has ever spent three hours researching orbital mechanics instead of writing Chapter One. Whether you write: - gritty military sci-fi, - weird cosmic horror, - cyberpunk, - time travel, - AI rebellion stories, - alien first contact, ... you’re among friends here. Introduce yourself and tell us: - what you write, - what you’re working on, - and your all-time favourite sci-fi franchise, movie, or book. (There are no wrong answers… unless you say the Star Wars Holiday Special.) Mine? Mass Effect owns my soul, Stargate deserved ten more seasons, and I firmly believe The Fifth Element is one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. Also a huge fan Ruins of the Galaxy book series by Christopher Hopper, the Planetside series by Michael Mammay, and the I, Robot series by Asimov. Now grab a coffee, tea, or bottle of contraband space whiskey and jump into the conversation.

Looks like I should introduce myself! I found this community through a webinar on sci-fi worldbuilding. I'm working on a space opera with fantasy and horror elements at the moment. It's got a nanotech swarm-based "magic" system that ends up being the main antagonistic force. I look forward to seeing what this place is all about!
Thrilled to be here! What sci-fi worlds are we building? 🌌
Hey everyone! Just joined the community and wanted to drop a quick note to say hello. The focus here on narrative architecture and worldbuilding is right up my alley, and I’m really looking forward to learning from the editors and authors in this space. Writing can be a wild solo journey, so I love finding communities like this where we can lift each other up. To kick things off, I’d love to know what everyone is working on right now! What is the core concept or sub-genre of your current sci-fi project? Are you currently drafting/worldbuilding, or do you already have books live on Amazon? Drop a comment below, I'd love to hear about the universes you're creating! 👇

I'm working on a space opera with a strong leaning toward horror. My logline: When an ancient technological trap ensnares people from opposing sides of an interstellar war, they must work together to survive. I did some worldbuilding in advance, but most of it is being done on the fly. I'm drafting right now. This is my first serious attempt to write a novel, but I used to write and draw web comics. Some of them are still up.
Scene Check
What’s your favourite scene you’ve written recently? Tell us about it without spoiling the entire novel.

One of my characters tried to get through a spaceport quickly, parkour-style, and messed up. They ended up spending several minutes falling "down" an upward escalator, so... they were basically falling in place for a while. Bonk, bonk, bonk. It was karma at work and made for a great gag, leading to this character forever being leery of staircases. Tragically, I had to cut out the entire section taking place in the spaceport, so this scene no longer exists.
