UPCOMING at Space Authors
Over the next few weeks, you'll start seeing quick lessons appear in the Codex covering the nuts and bolts of writing. Things like: • Show vs. Tell• Writing stronger scenes• Dialogue that sounds natural• Point of View• Characterization• Scene structure• Description• And all those little line-level techniques that make readers keep turning the page. These will be short, practical lessons you can use immediately. Then we'll start rolling out deeper courses and live classes where we can really dig into these topics and help you improve your craft. And if you're looking for one-on-one help, you'll also find links in the Codex to work privately with either Randy or me, whether that's coaching, developmental editing, or manuscript feedback. Our goal has always been simple: Not just to help you build incredible science fiction worlds... But to help you write incredible science fiction stories. We're just getting started. Krista & Randy

Thrilled to be here! What sci-fi worlds are we building? 🌌
Hey everyone! Just joined the community and wanted to drop a quick note to say hello. The focus here on narrative architecture and worldbuilding is right up my alley, and I’m really looking forward to learning from the editors and authors in this space. Writing can be a wild solo journey, so I love finding communities like this where we can lift each other up. To kick things off, I’d love to know what everyone is working on right now! What is the core concept or sub-genre of your current sci-fi project? Are you currently drafting/worldbuilding, or do you already have books live on Amazon? Drop a comment below, I'd love to hear about the universes you're creating! 👇

Hey, great to have you here! We're still new, but things are popping up and plans for more writing and learning events are coming. Both the worldbuilding and narrative architecure courses will be opening for enrolment soon. I currently have a 3 book series on Amazon, which is military sci-fi, time travel. And am working on another military sci-fi, but definitely not time travel. This one is set in space (my love), about a soldier about to be tested: is he who he, and everyone thought he was? Or will he crumble? I went a little hard sc-fi on this one, which was fun.

@Kristin Hannah, I'm currently working on a standalone. It just came back from the dev editor, so there's lots of work to be done.
Franchise Loyalty Test
You can only keep ONE sci-fi franchise forever. The rest vanish into the void. What do you choose? Choose wisely.

I'd like to say it's hard to choose, but it's gotta be, hands down, Mass Effect. It's the only franchise tattooed on my body. The original Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars: A New Hope probably started my love of sci-fi, but it wasn't until decades later with Star Trek that I realized I was a sci-fi fan. As for books, it's Murderbot, with the I.Robot series a close second.
Narrative Architecture Course OPEN
The Narrative Architecture Course is open for sign-up. Great science fiction starts with more than cool ideas, it starts with a story that works. In this course, we'll explore the foundational structures that help readers stay engaged. The goal isn't to follow rules. It's to understand the tools that help you build stronger science fiction stories.

Beyond the Horizon Book Club
This is a great way to learn how and why story structure works, and sometimes doesn't work or deliver on promises. Each month, we choose a sci-fi novel, and during the live discussion, we analyze the book through the lens of the story escalation engine. And of course, deeper discussion and debate will ensue... During our 'open season' here at Space Authors (ends August 15, 2026), this is free to all tiers. After August 15, this will only be available at Premium Tier or above. Come check it out! Our first book is: Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir. The first live meeting date: TBD. We feel it's best to see where people's schedules work best. Live discussion is best amongst a group of like-minded writers. To be clear, the live meetings (accessible via Space Author calendar link), will occur once a month. Thanks, Krista & Randy
