Research
Hi fam? I am an MLS student. I'll be doing my mini thesis topic research in two months time. I'd love to do something related to chemistry 🥹 Any idea? Inputs? Opinions?

Oooh that a stuffy. Do some looking around and find something that your really interested in learning about. In research are you looking for a disease the utilizes chemistry test for diagnosis and treatment? Or are you looking at the research studies of working in a chemistry department??
Here we go!
Just started my clinicals and taking the AMT and AAB in 4 months. Let the studying begin. I purchased lab CE, I have the boc, and purple and gold review book. I still don't really know where to start. On a whim I decided to take a mock exam and didn't do so great because I've forgotten everything I've learned 10 months ago. Panic is setting in. Help 😬

Some tips on top of makenze's great post! I really like blood bank guy's learning videos for bloodbank. I also wrote down microbiology flow charts a couple times to help remember them. Doing little things to help you remember like the coagulation cascade I did " Final steps end in 1 and 2 (Fibrinogen and Prothrombin). PTT tests the intrinsic pathway ("Play Table Tennis INside") (countdown IN 12,11,9,8). PT in the extrinsic pathway ["Play Tennis outside(external)"] (3+7)= 10 which is the start of the common pathway. Common pathway 1x2x5=10. Watching and attending Marilyn study sessions really helped me to retrain my mind on how to study! I never had the highest CE lab scores, but it helped me go over areas I did not understand. Good luck!

https://youtu.be/xY3sspj_E0I?si=Dudd2ZnLr1WP5_cd I like this video for getting easy tips and tricks of remembering coag cascade. Definitely blood guy, "last minute essentials", is a good video for review. For micro and calculations take a paper and write down the formulas and micro diagrams for the different bacteria a few times. This way during the exam before starting the test i wrote down formulas and says to help me remember things. Example, "ROME" (respiratory opposite, metabolic equal). Marilyn just posted about how to start studying. Also if you use the search bar Marilyn post documents that will help. Try to join in on some study sessions, good luck! You got this!!

Passed my MLS ASCP Boards!
I cannot express how thankful I am for joining this community! After I graduated with my bachelors, I thought I had the boards in the bag, I failed. Looking for different ways to study, my coworker told me about these 30 days of ASCP videos on Facebook. I decided to pay for the extra weekly study sessions, (folder of past recorded sessions) and classroom materials. I listened to a study session almost every day, it changed the way I study completely. I learned so much more here than I did through college! I worked as an MLT for 13 years, and Marilyn has made me realize just how great this profession is again!! 😊
