@Kāʻili Wells Jr. I love that! singing brings me closest to heaven as well 🙏 "the songs of the righteous are prayers unto me" - and I take that literally sometimes and sing my worries to God while driving alone somewhere
My son James 9 years old
My son learned this at his music class today. I love it! He’s sounding so good! Also, I can tell he’s really feeling the pulse of the music. He’s just strumming whole notes but he’s really grooving!

Strumming Basics
Hi @Taima Aldahmani! I just made a video for you talking about strumming. I kinda messed up the audio, sorry! I'm gonna re-film it for you but there were some important things in the video I mentioned, so I'll leave this here for now.

I see Azul in your background - do you like to play board games?

@Kāʻili Wells Jr. I love that! I am - My family loves to do board game nights, we got really into board game arena during covid, and I married into D&D - and now have introduced a few of my friends into that space as well. I actually was trying to invite them over to play Gloomhaven with me, but they both said "I'd rather play real D&D instead" haha!! and so now we have had some fantastic campaigns together.
Feeling It
“Feeling the music” — the beat, rhythm, tempo — is one of the hardest things to learn or teach. But it’s also one of the most important skills if you want to really play music well. Hard doesn’t mean impossible! Here are a few ways to train yourself to feel it: 1️⃣ Clap – Snap your fingers, tap a table, or clap your hands. Simple, classic, and effective. 2️⃣ Tap your foot – Keep time by tapping your heel or toes. Musicians everywhere use this to lock into the beat. 3️⃣ Nod your head – Up, down, side to side… it all works. Watch Carlos Santana sometime — he’s always doing this. 4️⃣ Bounce – Move your body or shoulders with the rhythm. Even in a chair, that physical motion helps. 5️⃣ Bite – Weird one, but some people lightly tap their teeth together to lock in. Often combined with swaying or bobbing. The key: find the natural way YOU feel music physically, then lean into it. 👉 How do you naturally feel rhythm when you play or listen?

When I'm singing in choir, my hand will conduct along with the music - the other sopranos argue over who gets to sit next to me to watch my unintentional cues, haha!
