If This Piece Could Talk (March 2026)
In this new monthly series, we're going to give our projects a story written from their point of view. This is just for fun; you don't have to be a polished writer to participate. Simply give your piece a voice. - Drop yours in a post along with a photo of the piece doing the speaking - The piece can be finished, unfinished, or a pile of supplies waiting to be started - There is no length requirement. You can write a sentence, a paragraph, or a short story. - Use this primary title: If This Piece Could Talk (Appropriate month) Here is mine: Well… first of all, I’d like it noted that I did not start life as a flower. Once upon a time, I was minding my own business as perfectly respectable scraps of fabric. A curtain, a blouse, a bit of lace that had seen more Sunday dinners than I can count. We all thought retirement meant a quiet life in a sewing basket. Next thing we know—snip, stitch, press. Now here I am… a rather glamorous flower if I do say so myself. The lace behind me? Very proper. Always acting like she’s still attending socials. The orange fabric around the edges? Absolute drama queen. Claims she used to “catch the sunset every evening.” We’ve heard the story a thousand times. And the buttons? Don’t even get me started. They think they’re jewelry. But I’ll tell you a secret. I rather like this life. I get to sit here in my frame watching people walk by. Some smile. Some lean in close to figure out what I’m made of. Now and then, someone says, “I bet that was fun to make.” Fun? Oh honey. We were reborn. And between you and me…I’ve never looked this good in my entire fabric life.
