I know a bunch of you have taught this focus switching e.g. from something away from you, and also back to focusing on your face. What's your favourite method? Any favourite tutorials/resources?
I came across this game recently and thought you all might enjoy it also. Has anyone done something like this before for dogs that are easily distracted?
Gosh love this clip - I'd never get my dog to tug that way and he'd only be interested in checking out the other human rather than the toy but so many ideas for adapting the game for other contexts - thanks so much for posting Nick π
Here's a bunch of stuff I think you should know about playing with your dog. Just knowing this will make your play much better. Credit to @Alex Lato for the play cycle idea. You should also check out his community
Looking forward to watching this. My dog is very uninterested in tug - he'll play once every couple of weeks but I'm pretty sure it's more to make me happy than him. I did Susan Garrett's classes for 3 years and she's all over tugging but it didn't help at all! My neighbours BC who we pet sit regularly - that's a completely different thing - hoping for ideas how not to be harassed into playing tug 24/7!
Saturday morning - cycle 20 km to pick up my dog's food (and then return). You can bet I'm going to bring the furry one to run alongside to keep me company. To be fair - it's a lovely route, 90% on a bike route along the river. Sunday it's supposed to pour down so not sure yet. Though I do spend at least 4 hours outside daily with my dog - so I guess it'll be soggy
What have you all been up to? Apologies I've been quite inactive here this week. I've been so focused on my local business. Thanks to everyone that came to my engagement workshop in Ben's community. It was really fun π
