New Year / Fresh Start
By now, this is usually the moment when New Year’s resolutions start to wobble. The excitement fades. The to-do list feels longer. Doubt creeps in. If you’re just starting a business, or pushing yourself to make 2026 different - here’s your reminder: momentum doesn’t come from motivation — it comes from consistency. You don’t need a perfect plan. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to keep showing up — one small, intentional step at a time. Progress looks like: ✔️ asking questions ✔️ learning new tools ✔️ adjusting the plan ✔️ staying in the game when it gets uncomfortable The same discipline that carried you through service will carry you through entrepreneurship — just applied in a new way. This isn’t the “make it or break it” moment. It’s the decide to keep going moment. You’ve got this. And you don’t have to do it alone. 🇺🇸✨

Looking for your toolkits?
THIS IS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME TO AN IN PERSON CLASS WE OFFERED. Now that you are here, please send me a message (or email me) and tell me which classes you have taken. My team will confirm those and we will drop your toolkits into your account for you. You will find them in the classroom (that tab is sometimes turned off because we are editing, but Classroom is a main link at the top of the site when we are not editing - it is usually visible). Once we get you set up, you will be able to come here to get your toolkits anytime. - JULIE

One Small Habit That Helped Me Focus on What Really Matter
One thing I keep seeing with small business owners is that they’re busy all day… but still unsure what’s actually moving their business forward. It’s easy to spend hours replying to messages, tweaking a website, posting on social media, or chasing tiny tasks but when you step back, revenue and momentum don’t always match the effort. Something that’s helped me (and others I’ve learned from) is asking a simple question each week: “What are the 3 actions that would make this week a win?” Not 20 things. Just 3.Examples could be: - Reach out to 5 potential clients - Finish and send one proposal - Launch or test one small offer - Improve one part of your sales or onboarding process When everything feels important, nothing really is. Focusing on a few high-impact moves keeps you from drowning in busywork. what’s one thing in your business right now that, if you fixed or improved it, would make everything else easier?

Getting paid…
Anyone in here in a position where they have to chase customers for late payments. Either for yourself or your employer. I’m interested in how you approach this. Does it fill you with dread, or do you have a “battle plan” in place?

This is an ongoing struggle for many, many small biz owners. The solution depends on the kind of business model you have and the type of customers or clients you serve. What is your business and what kind of customer do you have?

i have two different options to suggest - though others with experience specific to manufacturing should chime in too. A - like you mention, in some cases like with a new client, I will ask for half up front and half on delivery. Meaning they pay for the final part before they get the final part. That works with project pricing but not always with other types of purchase. I only allow for a 30-day window when the client has already been with us for a while - not because we don't like them but we are also a small business. And we cannot not get paid, it stops the engines. B - Factoring services. Have you heard of these? I don't use them but my older brother has a business too and he swears by them. He only uses them for clients that he has vetted enough to be willing to extend credit but when he does not know them well or knows them and knows he needs to cover his backside. With factoring, there is an advantage in that the company pays you the invoice immediately. The client pays the factoring company as an agent of your business and that factoring agency will do the chasing, they report on credit, etc. They are kind and professional but when people don't pay, they are somewhat ruthless and determined. The downside is that they take a % of your revenue, not a lot but enough that when my brother uses them he increases the prices. And, if the client ends up not paying after a couple of months, then the business does become responsible to pay back what was pre-paid by the factoring company, It's a little bit like having an agent, or collection agency, but you still risk not being paid. I will say that it does help -- it's not you personally pushing and the pushing to pay, the consistent messaging, calls and letters as well as credit reporting is no joke. And it only becomes firm like that when they don't pay. I'm curious, if you have a 0% overdue pay rate, why are you asking this question? Do you have suggestions for the rest of us to help us solve this issue? :)

We are getting some great momentum and new members -- welcome all! I am going to spend some time this weekend fixing up the classroom and calendar space, it needs to be updated with current offerings and we're going to add some short little "hands on topic" sessions to provide know-how on things like how to use Canva, how to use SEMRush, and other helpful tools for any business. Stay tuned and PLEASE NOTE - if you came to a in-person class and are looking for your toolkits, please message me and tell me which classes you took and I will drop your toolkits into your account for you - have a great weekend!!!
