Show me what you're working on!
Here are a few clips from a recent practice session. I received an insta360 for my birthday a few months ago, and It's taken me awhile to actually start using it. I was excited to try the tracking feature while I practiced. One thing I'm learning about recording progress is that I dislike editing videos, and it's probably much better to record short clips at a time, rather than a whole 20 minutes that I then have to review and cut down into smaller sections. But here are a few things I'm working on. starting to practice spins , a little pivot-pivot-back6 combo, the first part of a boomerang, dips. this was my first time recording some of these, and I see so many things to fix! Cheers to progress videos 😃

Slow but still trying!!! My husband and I went to Central Park on Saturday to the cpdsa.com and had a wonderful time. I really need to get back on a practice schedule. So I went to an adult season in June at rollermagic in south amboy and one of the ladies said if I wanted to come on a Sunday she would teach me with the artistic skaters…I go one Sunday she teaches me tstops (using stoppers not the wheels) ok I practice. She says to me com on Sundays and it’s 40.00 for a half hour. I’m like ok cool. I show up the next Sunday and she’s not there. I wound up going to Woodbridge. Never saw or heard from her again. Go figure… How’s things by you????

@Isabel Athina Mitzen I know I was looking at the florham park website a few days ago And saw that they were closed and thier lessons don’t start until September. I think a lot of my skate anxiety is finding out where I should skate because even though Im still a beginner-ish skater I feel too embarrassed to go to certain places alone. I’ve also gotten so heavy too 😩 I have to get over my anxiety and go to bbp on Saturdays to have them help me get better. But yes to florham park on a Friday if our stars align 🎉🎉
Multiple skates
Hay fam! Do you think it hinders progress to have multiple pairs of skates? I finally got the boot I love but I want it in a different color as well. I would use the same angle plates, not necessarily the same brand though.Thoughts???

Uhhhh you have more than one pair of shoes that you mix and match for outfits or seasons…why not have more than one pair of skates. (It’s the shoe horse in me 🤣)

Roller Skate Buyers Guide
Before you spend a dollar on skates, read this. I have spent more than ten years on eight wheels living rhythm skating, and the number one thing that trips up new skaters is not their feet. It is buying the wrong pair before they ever get to skate. So I made you a shortcut. This is the SK8SHOT Roller Skate Buyer's Guide. It walks you through exactly how to pick your first pair of quad skates so you fall in love with skating from day one. Inside you will find: - What skates to get and which brands to stay away from - Essential info about wheels, jam plugs, bearings, lacing and insoles - How much to expect to spend and more... Grab the guide below. Once you have it, drop a comment and tell me what you think about it and any questions you have. Hope this helps. Let's get you rolling!

You did a great job!!! The only thing I would add and this is based on my experience as a new skater is to definitely measure your foot based on the directions of the manufacturer. (You may have written this, I may have not seen it) Or go to a proper skate shop. (The closest one to me is at least 1.5 hours away.) Riedell has a measurement guide and sizing reference so you can order the proper size. I imagine Moxi has their own(even if it’s the same company) I made the mistake of not sizing my foot based on the charts and getting a 1/2-1 size larger bc I thought they were going to be too tight around the toe. Turns out they were too big. I wound up selling them and got a better fitting pair. Lesson learned….
Wheel question.
I changed out my sonar 85a to sure grip boardwalk 65’s. Does anyone have these? If yes how do you like them for pavement outside. What wheels do you use for outside pavement? I put my skates on today and they were quite slippery so I’m curious if anyone has these. *I bought them based on one of dirty Deborah Harry’s tutorials bc outside skating is a little more accessible to me. Thank you in advance

@Isabel Athina Mitzen Thank you for this! This is good to know if I want go to overpeck park for the trails. I guess for my driveway and garage (not that big of an area) I’ll go back to the sonars. 🤗
