Been a looong time
Hi everyone, just wanted to re-introduce myself. Iโ€™m Jon and I live in Asheville nc and my wife and I have a food business called Compassionste Kitchen (we manufacture vegan, organic baking mixes). I started this program in November 2025 and have continued to stick with it since then. I have had the most amazing results- and not just in how I look. My energy is up, my confidence is up, I am significantly stronger all around, and Iโ€™m getting more and more people asking me abt my diet. I work in construction and so many guys have been asking me how i can be strong and vegan. Itโ€™s been amazing; this journey has changed my life. And most importantly, itโ€™s made me a more effective vegan advocate. I know my journey is still continuing, but hopefully you can see by the videos (first is before I started and other is a few weeks ago) that significant change has happened. I hope to engage more and am so happy this place exists. Vegan for the animals๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Nice progress Jon!
HOT ๐Ÿ”ฅ
We have hit triple digits and been in the high 90's. What is everyone doing to battle the heat? Definitely do most activities in doors and drinking extra water, any other ideas?

We split our time between SE AZ and coastal SC so we get our share of hot! Get out and be active early, short bouts outside otherwise, protect yourself from the sun, and drink more than your body is telling you you need (especially in dry climates where you don't get physical cues like sweating). When its too hot to exercise with any intensity, I get out and do some photography and at lest gets some steps in :)
Complete protein
When we talk about complete proteins, we're talking about whether these protein sources contain all nine essential amino acids needed to grow and build muscle. The thing is, you've likely been lied to your entire life. You do not need to worry about complete proteins as a vegan, unless you eat beans and only beans for 24 hours straight. You don't need to worry about pairing certain proteins for each meal. Not only is this mentally daunting, itโ€™s also just another trick to make vegans think they are at a disadvantage. You're going to get what you need through a varied source of proteins in your diet. Let me tell you this: myself, every client I've taken to stage, literally every client I've ever worked with, we've never tracked their complete grams of protein. We've never done a deep-dive analysis of amino acids. When you eat a varied diet (and this includes soy-free athletes as well) you don't have to worry about where you get your protein.

When this concern comes up from non-vegans, I usually draw a parallel where I ask them if they try to get every essential *micronutrient* at every meal. Of course the answer is no - if they worry about it at all, they only worry about getting enough over a daily or even weekly time frame.
Hello from Arizona!
New to the community. As was stated in the intro video, the hardest part about being vegan is living in a non vegan world. So here I am. Iโ€™m 42 living in Arizona. I run ultra marathons, I lift heavy, I bake and cook all my own vegan food and have for a long time. I work as a nurse, both in the hospital and as a hospice nurse part time. I also volunteer at an animal sanctuary here in Arizona and I involve myself in as much community activism as I can, whether that be protests or feeding the homeless healthy vegan meals. Iโ€™ve lived all over the US and in several other countries. I was a nomad living out of my car for many years. Iโ€™m a minimalist and environmentalist. Iโ€™ll be running across Iceland in August. Iโ€™ve never been to Iceland, but it looks like itโ€™s a lot more vegan friendly than I originally thought. If anyone has been to Iceland and knows of great places to eat or a sanctuary to check out Iโ€™d love to hear it.

Tucson represent! We actually live in Aravaipa Canyon northeast of Tucson now, but used to live right next to Saguaro NP West. Maybe we will catch you at the vegan night market some time!
