Hold downs
Haven’t been doing a lot of CNC just purchased my machine about two months ago. Having issues with the factory hold down that come with it. Would love to hear everyone else’s technique and advice. Possibly even pictures would be awesome.

Hello Randy, I aswell struggle with this. At first I 3d printed som clamps, but they failed. Then started resurching what others have done, and couldn't get a definitive solution. Then I found the double sided tape, that was a game changer. Since then I now have a vacume table that saves so much time. If I need a clamp, Instead i screw the part to the spoil board.

@Randy Rawls I have a 3/4 inch spoil board on my vacuum table. Just good judgment and accurate measurements is key.

It should be so easy! 42” x 6” x 1.1” pieces of cypress. Eight 4.5” hearts with a Golden Girl. But the default tabs, I guess, were too weak. So I’m about to run a 4.0” size heart. For awhile I thought I’d bent the GG. I’m off to try try again.

Donald, what software are you using? Usually there are ways to customize them. Also leaving a thin layer of materials on the bottom helps, called onion skin. When setting your materials thickness, just reduce it by a little. Leaving materials to hold everything in place, the cutting it away when the cnc is completed. Hope this helps.
