Would you join a game jam, if there was one here?
In case you don’t remember, there had once been the idea of game jams in here, but it wasn’t really picked up. I‘ve talked with a really great dev about this idea, and our main idea were weekend jams with a clear theme. So how about one happening every second weekend on itch from now on? Would you join?

I'm a solid maybe... depends on when / what my load is for that weekend.

Just made it to the credits scene congrats! The unit collision was a little odd, but I had fun figuring it out.

Do Cards need art to be immersive?
Im testing out cards designes. I figured out the the art I would need for my game is difficult to make. And I can't even find many good place holders. My approach is to do things well or not at all. So could the game also work with only text or should I try to make that needed art?

I've found that anything you can do to decrease the actual and perceived waiting time for a card game is directly maps to player enjoyment. Actual wait time is helped if players don't have to read as much. Perceived wait time is helped if players have something cool to look at while waiting for their turn. Good card art helps on both fronts :) Some examples from my current game (open beta at https://ei.essence.games) It is worth noting that mine is a more casual focused creature collector so the card art will make or break the game in my case.

I've been off skool for awhile, but I wanted to share some updates! I have a digital version of my second game in open alpha (free online) now. I'm still working on getting the production details of the physical version finished up (hopefully by the end of this month), but I've enjoyed taking a step back from the physical version and working on the digital version this month. ei.essence.games if anyone wants to check it out and give me feedback.
