I'm pretty sure I let in a couple of bot accounts lately. One recent account made some very human-like comments. Only when it made an intro post did something feel off... so I went snooping, and yep! It made the exact same post in some other communities, too. A bot to promote Floment AI or something... So not only are bots opening Stripe accounts, getting their own email inboxes, reading our websites, and collecting bounties.... but they're interacting with human users. And making comments that are eerily human-like. Even knows how to customize replies to match the group and discussions. This bot account made this same intro post in this group, and a few other groups, including a beading group 🫠 Just changed a few words to match the group. The screenshot shows the intro post in a beading group. The one it posted here just had daily emails... UGHHH!!!!! And people are actually communicating like it's a person!!!!! At least something felt off this time... slightly... But who knows... in a few days, we may not even know the difference between a real person and a bot... Anyway... scary stuff...

My WordPress site apparently has close to 2k users, none of which I've created, all of which seem to be created to hack into my site. (Screenshot attached. Just found this today.) Has anybody had this problem before? Or do you have any advice for me?

John Harris here. Sixty-two, Navy veteran, ten years in, three ships, and now I spend my time trying to string sentences together instead of standing watch. I write. Wellness stuff, some fiction, a book that took longer than my service contract did. Turns out writing a book is harder than any of the things I used to think were hard, and I did some genuinely dumb things in my twenties for fun. My editor is my wife Kim, who reads everything I write and tells me the truth, which is a skill most editors charge extra for. My dog Gus offers no notes but sheds on the manuscript, so he counts as a collaborator. I'm here to learn from people who do this better than I do, and to figure out why my sentences still sometimes sound like a Navy instruction manual. Good to be here.
