🐒 Friday Jungle Wrap-Up: The Chaos Tamer Diaries (Day 2)
Some weeks the jungle wins a few rounds. You stride in with your planner, your good intentions, and a hot cup of courage…then trip over a hair straightener cord and discover glitter lotion fossilized in your sink. It’s fine. We’re fine. You’re still here, still taming chaos, still remembering (most of) your kids’ birthdays. This weekend, I’m personally taking my machete to the teenage girl gunk build-up in my bathrooms —the honey face masks, the shaving cream murals, the mysterious coconut-oil slicks.Pray for me. Before you clock out of this week, pause for a quick jungle check-in: 🌿 One win you’re proud of (big or tiny). 🌿 One habit that actually stuck. 🌿 One beast you plan to tame next — even if it’s the drain. If you’re in the Tame the Chaos Challenge (Day 2), share what’s surprising you so far.The weekend’s for rest — not surrender.

🐅 Midday Jungle Check-In: The Great Friday Fade 😴
Anyone else hit that moment where your to-do list starts side-eyeing you back? You’re halfway through the day, halfway through the challenge… and the caffeine has declared emotional bankruptcy. Here’s your reminder, Jungle Mama — momentum doesn’t have to look like speed. Sometimes it’s just not giving up when your brain whispers, “nap.” If you’ve tackled your morning chaos already, drop a 🪴 below. If not, grab your machete (or mop), take a breath, and pick one small thing you can finish before dinner. That’s how the jungle gets tamed — one small, loud victory at a time. ✨PS: Tell me — what’s been your biggest “oh wow, I actually did that” moment of the challenge so far?

I managed to keep my antique store intact while also watching my toddler this afternoon.
Grocery Stores
I know we all live in different parts of the country and it got me wondering: Where do you shop for groceries the most? My go-to is Aldi and then what I can’t find there I grab at Kroger. Anyone else a big Aldi fan?

We have a couple of Aldi stores around us, but they're either really out of the way or in not so great part of time. So we usually shop at a little local meat/grocery store that our son works at and Martin's.

🔥 Jungle Campfire Recap (10/10)
It was a cozy, thoughtful night around the fire — even with a little Star Trek thrown in. 😄 Wins: Leia took the kids to the bike park today — huge win for both her and the crew 🚲 We celebrated progress (even small outings count!) Struggles: Winnie is having trouble doing her schoolwork on the Surface — she really wants hard-copy books 📚 Leia opened up about her daughter’s diabetes and separation anxiety — she’s been sitting with her 30 minutes each night to help her adjust 💛 Broader chat about growing up in Portland vs. Omaha, computer aversion, and how those little environmental differences shape us Topics + Ideas: TED Talk by Colin Camerer → Neuroscience, Game Theory & Monkeys 🧠🐒 The self-serving bias and how the opposite pattern tends to show up more in women — especially moms — creating heavier self-blame loops and affecting how we problem-solve for our families Book mention: Predictably Irrational 💡 Theme: The stories we tell ourselves shape how we show up — in motherhood, marriage, and the everyday jungle. 👉 Your Turn: Have you noticed any “bias” or mental habit that keeps you from giving yourself credit for what you already do?

Mine, is usually, "well if I didn't take those few minutes to do ONLY what I wanted to do, then I could have gotten such and such done that would have benefited everyone.
Hair
Why is it so hard to figure out how to get your hair cut. Do I get a short bob or just a trim and shaping? Do I add color?

I have had the same cut for years, below my shoulders, long layers, and must be able to pull back into a bun! I gave in and have let the grays start to take over.
