Be Ready For Your Moment
Freshman year. Week 4. Coach pulls me aside:“Our guys aren’t healthy… you HAVE to play.” Best team in the country. Defending champs. And he made it sound like I was a liability. But I was ready. 18 years old.True freshman. First start. 3 sacks. School record. Do you think I ever came off the field again? No chance. That one game propelled me to everything that came after — all the way to the pros. 👉 Your shot will come. You won’t have time to “get ready.” You’ve gotta already be ready. One chance can change your whole life. Don’t waste it. — Coach Nicholas Dheilly

@Imani Griffin-Deveaux great stance young man, back leg / right hand place look fantastic…try getting your front shin more parallel to the ground and that’ll give you more force to propel forward rather than upwards
What’s one D-line move or technique that people HATE on… but you swear by? 💬
👉 Or maybe it’s the opposite — a move you can’t stand that others love to use? For me... It’s the hip flip. I can’t stand seeing it. Every time one of my guys flips instead of stepping through, I lose it 😤 I believe the step-through is way more controlled, explosive, and game-ready. Now it's your turn! 👇 Drop yours in the comments: What’s that one move or coaching cue that always gets judged, questioned, or debated? Let’s open this one up. I wanna hear what you guys stand by — or can’t stand at all. — Coach Dheilly

I have a love/hate relationship with the spin. Now that I’m retired and no longer have to deal with it I love watching a DE or athletic Nose/Tackle hit the spin…just something magical about it. Also, when they can set up the rhythm for the spin to be similar to other moves it makes them that much more dangerous to play against. Hate it because you see too many kids trying it in high school and younger because “it looks cool” but they never get taught how to properly do the spin so now they’re learning bad habits.
