Kids Ministry Curriculum Review
Where is the info on curriculum for kids ministry. I know we talked about a bunch of different ones. I am reviewing curriculum and want to know what people think is best. Why they like certain ones and why they don't. Thanks!

There are lots of good ones… Go! Gospel Project Wonder Ink Brite Grow (but pricey)
Kids Ministry Jobs
Hi Everyone, Sorry for all the questions I am pretty new and still trying to figure it all out. Iam also currently doing everything myself. I do have a part time staff person who only does the schedule and a few odds and ends and helps me with events and it is becoming to much for me. You all talk about different job titles within Kids Ministry for voluteers. I hear Check-In, leads, coaches, what other positions are there? Where can I find information on each of their purposes so that I can make our own Job Descriptions for the positions we might need for our ministry and see what fits our needs in kids ministry. I have googled a few but there are so many, I just was curiouse what you all use when you are a small church and their purpose.

You're right, there's a ton out there and lots of different "org charts". I like to have a team leader for each service. As you grow, you can have more than one per service, such as a Preschool Team Leader and an Elementary Team Leader. Then you could look at other key areas that might warrant a designated leader, like the welcome team/check-in, worship, etc.
Opening and Closing Assemblies
Hey Team! I am working on scripts for Opening and Closing Assemblies. The curriculum we chose uses a skit, the package said their was video alternatives, but it's a low quality video of people putting on the skit. Not really the vibe we go for in assemblies. I am working to put together a script/plan to incorporate the message/point behind the skits, but don't have the video, like we've done in years past. So, if you don't have show a video or put on a skit- What does your opening and closing assemblies look like? If you do use a video/skit, but have ideas on alternative flows, I'm open to that too! THANKS!

I don't even use skits in large group anymore. Maybe that's a hot take, but I've found more success replacing that time block with a creative teaching elements and high-energy games.
Volunteer Training
Last week in our Kids Ministry Circle Roundtable call, we talked about rhythms around volunteer training. Fall is around the corner and you may be working through your 2026-2027 Volunteer training calendar. So, let's take a poll! How often do you train your volunteers? Bonus question to answer in the chat...are your rhythms working? PS: If you are a member in the Kids Ministry Circle Roundtable, I just dropped a deep dive video explaining my 4-part Volunteer Training Strategy into your specific classroom!

I only do about three gatherings per year. One in the Fall for vision casting, one during the holidays to celebrate as a team, and one at the end of the school year to celebrate the year. Most of our training goes in weekly Huddles. And I also try to weave it into weekly emails when possible. Having an online hub for more polished content helps too. Whether that’s policies/procedures or skill training. The rest is on the job coaching! It’s a simple model but it’s worked well.
Mobile Kids Ministry
Hey all! I have been serving in Kids ministry for the last 5 years and we just recently moved from being in a permanent building to renting our local high school. We set up and tear down each week. We are 9 weeks in and I am a little concerned with burnout for my kids team. I try to make sure I am touching base with them often and checking in. I also am creating more opportunity for them to be in service over serving since we now only have 1 church service through the summer months. What tools and practices have worked well for you as kids min leaders to care for your team and continue to pour into them well?

Best place to start is by having a separate setup and tear down team. At least to do the heavy lifting. In one season, we had the team set up everything. And in another, we had them get all the carts into rooms, out up scooba walls, etc. but then the teachers would set up the rest. There’s pros and cons to both, but I definitely don’t recommend having the same people who serve during service do all the set up and/or tear down themselves. Because they’ll definitely burn out quickly.
