Promotion Sunday
I would love to hear what everyone is doing for promotion Sunday this year. Our Pastor has asked us to do something different than our usual and I am a bit stumped. In previous years we hand out coupons to everyone in our church going "back to school" - teachers and school staff included, and we have a Kona ice truck set up after church for their coupons to be used for a free snow cone.

That sounds like a fun morning! I've seen churches do a pop up Sunday and have a popcorn bar for families. I love the back to school gift idea for teachers. I recently saw a really cute gift idea for teachers, let me see if I can find a picture. Maybe giving them a gift they can use outside of church is a good idea?
Fun Training Ideas
I’m hosting my first training in my new position and while there is a lot of information to go over, I also want to make it fun and engaging! One idea I had was to do a Kahoot quiz with some of the policies we need to review. What fun things do you did in your trainings that volunteers enjoy? Have any ice breakers that are crowd favorite?

I love playing volunteer BINGO. You fill a bingo board with unique facts (ex: broke 2+ bones, lived in another country) and your volunteers have to move around the room trying to find people who can cross off a spot on their bingo board.
Kids Ministry Cirriculum
Okay, new to all of this. We are wanting to look for new kids ministry curriculum. The one we have isn’t very fun for the kids. It’s too much reading and not enough stimulated for them. We are also a smaller church with a small budget but we only have at most 17 kids in kids ministry and a handful of toddlers in nursery. Soooo looking to find options and way to make our kids side of our ministry work better. So what’s your favorite curriculum and how well does it engage with the kids? Do the kids get involved? Help!

I would say, spend less time focuses on the engagement of the curriculum and more time training your volunteers how to be engaging teachers & leaders.
Curriculum Discussion
Hi! I would love to hear about the various curriculums people are using? We currently use Orange/Amazing Kids but we have gotten feedback from volunteers and families that they would like to see more scripture focused lessons. Which has me leaning towards The Gospel Project. Which then lead into Hiya, Paper Giants, The Park - and now my brain is overloaded lol! I do love all things curriculum and could discuss for hours!

Hey Chloe! I am going to throw another one your way. Take a look at Brite. I love the scripture emphasis. HIFY is also great if you want to stick in the Lifeway family. I am hosting a Curriculum chat next Thursday. It will be free to join and talk curriculum. If you don't make a decision before then, you should join and listen to what other people are choosing!
