How far can I deck the early Cummins block? I see they make .020 thicker gasket so I imagine at least that far. My thought was decking the block to bump up compression by reducing piston to head clearance. But if I over decked the block then set my clearance by milling the piston tops then I could also reduce bowl volume and further increase compression. Even if I could get away with decking it .030 or .040 I'd be in the money I think

Well I take a couple days off last week. Needed to clear my mind. But I did get some work on the shop. It’s starting to look like something now. Finally.

I am so busy with moving / packaging Building heads and engines. Learning the new machine. Oh ya and trying to finish the shop at the same time lol. Good times

So i have been busy busy with my 1st gen i got it and it was extremely rough, after ALOT of cutting and welding and changing some doors, and converting a door from manual to power... fenders hood rockers, drip rail on top some box panel patchs and about 200 dents..... i finally stopped trying to fix all the dents so some will just have to stay hahaha.... anyways its a shit ton of work i have done and alot more to come.... but i started painting it and i am doing this all outside in my parking spot, in the middle of the mountains. sanding a truck to bare metal is the most time consuming thing you will do.. probably 80 hours in just sanding.... i know it is a sin to paint outside, bugs dust just everything. but i am doing it for the love of the truck! ill post more pictures and stuff at the end of the summer. just figured some people might enjoy seeing it. cheers
