Easy way to spend a 100k
Well my seat and guide machine has a plc issues see I just it’s time to buy a new machine. Was not the machine I wanted to buy first. But sometimes it’s about what you need. New machine will be nice thought.

@Robert Winkworth its been 40 years since I watched a machinist use a seat and guide machine. I had no idea there were now CNC versions of them. Not sure I can wrap my head around how the CNC helps. Surely you still have to manually find the centerline of each existing valve guide before machining? Can you provide a simple explanation for us laymen?

I had already thought about not sheeting the roofing so you could stand between the rafters before you mentioned it. I am all about using every spot possible for storage.

As many times as you have stopped a video to turn off the air compressor, maybe put it out back within a small locked lean to?

12 Valve new engine excessive Carbon Buildup?
Does this look like excessive carbon buildup after 4700 miles on a new engine? It was suggested to me that the carbon is responsible for the marks in the cylinder walls and potentially was flaking off and gettting under the valves causing excessive leak down measurements. 12 valve, P7100 set at 480 cc, compound turbocharged. HX35/S475 171702. Now it has had three sets of injectors during the 4700 miles. Initially the factory 215 hp injectors that were discovered to be leaking, not popping correctly and peeing past the nozzles prior to popping. Then a set of factory bosch VE nozzles (~.009 x 6) that popped and had awesome spray, then a set of DDP Stage 2 Powerjets that also popped and sprayed awesome patterns and made a bit more horsepower than the VE nozzles. The 4700 miles were used to initially break in the motor (easily for 500 miles with the fuel plate at a low setting) then tuning of the P7100 began to calm down the smoke under WOT as the fuel plate was indexed to the 480cc setting.

@Robert Winkworth We had conversations where the builder schooled me about the RVK/RPK relative to the Total Seal Gapless Rings during the discussions prior to the build, but I don't have a sheet with those results. I have 4 cylinders with valves leaking 15 to 80 percent leakage. Builder thinks it might be carbon between the valves and seats. One if them is so loud at 100 psi air pressure hooked up that you could hear it 50 feet down the street (with exhaust manifold removed). Tapping the rocker with a plastic hammer repeatedly would not change the leakage. This was of course on TDC with .020/.010 valve clearance.

@Robert Winkworth The engine is under warranty (if I didn't create the issues) and I have delivered it back to the builder. He removed the head the day I was there and commented on the carbon buildup.
